On November 3rd, the Lien Chieu District Police ( Da Nang City) issued an arrest warrant for a suspect who borrowed a motorbike from a student, then stole it, leading to an inter-provincial assault and kidnapping.

The suspect Tran Hai Ho Nam (27 years old, originally from Vinh Trung Ward, Thanh Khe District, Da Nang City, residing in Bang Lang Hamlet, Thuy Bang Commune, Hue City, Thua Thien Hue Province) has been charged by the Lien Chieu District Police Investigation Agency with the crime of abusing trust to misappropriate property.

Nam is wanted for having fled his residence since April 2023.

According to the investigation results, on the afternoon of March 14th, Tran Hai Ho Nam borrowed a Yamaha Exciter motorcycle with license plate 37P1-213.67 from Hoang Dinh Thai (23 years old, residing in Hoa Minh Ward, Lien Chieu District, a student at the University of Technology - Da Nang University) and then stole it and fled to Hue City.

Tran Hai Ho Nam was apprehended by a group of students in Hue City.

Thai went to the Hoa Minh Police Station (Lien Chieu District) to report the incident. Afterward, Thai conspired with his classmates Tran Hoang Vi (23 years old, a student at the University of Technology - Da Nang University), Tran Quang Nhat (26 years old), and Dao Quang Ngoc (35 years old, all residing in Da Nang City) to abduct Nam from Hue City and hand him over to the Hoa Minh Police Station for processing.

Thai and Vi came up with the idea of ​​impersonating Shopee representatives to contact Nam, informing him that he had won a prize in a promotional program, in order to lure Nam into showing up.

Vĩ texted Nam to arrange a meeting in Hue City to exchange gifts, then the whole group rented a car and traveled from Da Nang City to Hue City.

As soon as Nam arrived at the meeting point, the group attacked him, beat him up, and forced him into a car to take him to Da Nang City with the intention of handing him over to the Hoa Minh Police for processing. However, when the car reached the Bac Hai Van toll station (Lang Co Town, Phu Loc District, Thua Thien Hue Province), the group was stopped by the Lang Co Town Police and the Traffic Police Department of Thua Thien Hue Province.

Having determined that Nam had been beaten, restrained, and abducted, the group consisting of Thai, Vi, Nhat, and Ngoc were handed over to the Hue City Police for prosecution on charges of intentional infliction of injury and unlawful detention.

Regarding Tran Hai Ho Nam, the Lien Chieu District Police have initiated legal proceedings against him for abuse of trust and misappropriation of property, but he has absconded. Therefore, the investigating agency has issued a nationwide arrest warrant.
