How beautiful is Ba Ho scenic spot!

Located more than 25km north of Nha Trang ward along National Highway 1, Ba Ho stream (Van Thuan village, Nam Ninh Hoa commune) is being proposed to be ranked as a provincial-level scenic spot. The beauty of Ba Ho stream was once written by poet Quach Tan in his book "Xu Tram Huong": "The scenery is so beautiful. The nuances change according to the day and time, according to the weather. So you can look at it forever without getting bored, come here all the time without getting bored".

Where nature meets legend

Ba Ho scenic spot originates from a 660m high mountain peak, belonging to the Hon Goong - Hon Ngang - Hon Ba range. The stream is less than 10km long but winds through many steep slopes, creating a bumpy, poetic journey. Then, the stream flows into Phu Huu field, then continues downstream to Ha Lien estuary and Nha Phu lagoon. Ba Ho stream has a beautiful blend of rocks, grass, trees, flowers and leaves; birds are very diverse, many species. The lower stream of Ba Ho stream is like a small, peaceful river flowing under rows of bamboo. The name Ba Ho comes from the fact that there are 3 lakes here, creating a beautiful landscape of the scenic spot. In which, the first lake has large and small rocks forming layers, interspersed with shady ancient trees. The second lake is about 50m from the first lake and requires climbing over quite dangerous rocks, small rock crevices. This place has a calm water surface, no waterfalls. The lake was formed by a large flat rock blocking the water flow, creating a natural dam. The third lake is located about 50m from the second lake and is the highest lake, also the final destination. The lake bed is full of rocks and sand, the water is clear and cool.

The beauty of Ba Ho scenic spot is also associated with fascinating folk legends. According to legend, the three lakes here are sacred places, the residence of mountain gods. The gods themselves have bestowed this land with pure water and abundant life. Local people believe that this stream carries the spiritual energy of the mountains and forests, is the source of blessings, favorable weather, and good crops. Therefore, they often come to Ba Ho scenic spot to offer prayers and pray for peace, especially during dry times or at the beginning of the harvest season. “During feudal times, during dry years, local people often came to pray. The incense altar was often set up at the second lake. After the ceremony, the celebrant took a large stone and respectfully threw it into the lake. So that day, whatever they did, it would rain...” (excerpt from Xu Tram Huong - Quach Tan). This folk belief affirms the special spiritual and cultural value of Ba Ho in community life.

Ba Ho scenic spot is being exploited for eco-tourism with Ba Ho tourist area. However, to manage and protect it more closely, it is necessary to rank it as a provincial-level scenic spot. According to Mr. Truong Hoai Phuong - Deputy General Manager of Ba Ho tourist area, Ba Ho scenic spot is a tourist destination known to many locals, domestic and international tourists. This place has been invested in and exploited many tourism services in terms of accommodation, entertainment, sightseeing, and cuisine . In the peak year, the tourist area welcomed more than 76,800 visitors, and since the beginning of 2025, it has welcomed more than 10,500 visitors. On the business side, we really hope that Ba Ho scenic spot will be ranked at the provincial level. That will make it easier to manage, protect, and exploit natural values, environmental landscapes, as well as help increase the brand value of the destination to promote and introduce to tourists. Therefore, the enterprise has closely coordinated with functional agencies and local authorities in surveying and determining the scope of the scenic spot, as well as providing necessary information to build the scenic spot profile.

At the end of October 2025, the Provincial Cultural Heritage Conservation Center sent a document to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism regarding the ranking of Ba Ho scenic spot. Accordingly, the center has completed the construction of the scientific dossier proposing the ranking of Ba Ho scenic spot; at the same time, it proposed that the department seek opinions from relevant organizations and individuals to complete it before submitting it to the Provincial People's Committee for ranking. Mr. Hoang Quy - Deputy Director of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Cultural Heritage Conservation Center said that through researching and determining the value of Ba Ho scenic spot, the center's leaders directed the specialized department to coordinate with localities and businesses in building a scientific dossier of Ba Ho scenic spot. Ba Ho scenic spot is not only an attractive destination with pristine landscapes, unique ecosystems of mountains, forests and streams, but also has historical, cultural, scientific, and tourism development values. Therefore, it is necessary to have solutions to protect scenic spots, as a basis for research and development of effective exploitation solutions.
