Vinh Moc Tunnels - "A miracle underground"

The Vinh Moc Tunnels are a Special National Historical Monument, built between 1965 and 1967. They are a vivid testament to the unwavering determination of the people and soldiers of Vinh Linh during the war against the US, demonstrating the spirit of "not giving up an inch of land, not yielding a single step."

The tunnel system, nearly 2 km long with 3 levels, extends 12 to 23 meters deep into the ground, capable of withstanding American demolition and armor-piercing bombs. The tunnel system was arranged like a miniature village, complete with family housing, a meeting hall, water wells, a maternity ward, and more. During the fierce war, 17 babies were safely born underground.

Although not a place of religious worship or pilgrimage, Vinh Moc Bay remains a tourist destination of immense spiritual and commemorative value. Visitors come here to admire, honor , and express gratitude for the sacrifices, indomitable spirit, and extraordinary intelligence of the people of Vinh Linh. Located on the DMZ ( Demilitarized Zone) tourist route , Vinh Moc Bay is an important stop, connecting visitors with other historical sites such as Hien Luong Bridge, Ben Hai River, and Quang Tri Ancient Citadel, creating a meaningful journey of remembrance.
