Since July 26th, African swine fever has spread to the villages of Khuoi My, Phieng Put, Na Dau, and Khuoi Khieu (Tran Phu commune), causing the death of an additional 25 pigs.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, African swine fever is recurring in Na Ri district, Bac Kan province. Pig deaths began in Na Cooc village, Tran Phu commune (Na Ri district) in early July; by July 25th, the number of dead pigs had increased to over 100, but the commune authorities were unable to detect it in time because residents did not report the deaths to the village or local authorities.
Local authorities also have no information on where the dead pigs were taken or how they were disposed of. Since July 26th, African swine fever has spread to the villages of Khuoi My, Phieng Put, Na Dau, and Khuoi Khieu (Tran Phu commune), causing the death of an additional 25 pigs.
According to a report by the Department of Animal Health (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development), in the first seven months of 2023, there were 208 outbreaks of African swine fever nationwide; the total number of pigs infected, dead, and culled was nearly 8,500. Currently, there are 44 active African swine fever outbreaks in 24 districts of 14 provinces that have not yet passed the 21-day quarantine period.
