In recent weeks, a makeshift steamed crab stall on Highway 9A in Trung Son area (Binh Chanh district, Ho Chi Minh City) has unexpectedly become a sensation, attracting long queues of people waiting to buy crabs every afternoon.
On the afternoon of June 20th, even though it was only 2 PM, we observed a large crowd of people standing in front of the SaiGon Mia apartment building on Road 9A, waiting to "compete" for a chance to buy steamed crabs that Mr. Lam Bao Dam (37 years old, residing in District 7) was bringing to sell there.

Customers jostle to buy crabs every afternoon.
According to Mr. Bao Dam, he used to specialize in selling live crabs, but noticing that many customers were hesitant about preparing crabs at home, he added steamed crabs to his business, making it more convenient for customers to enjoy them.
Despite opening less than a month ago, his crab stall has not only received enthusiastic support from locals but has also become a phenomenon, with long lines of people waiting to buy crabs every day, and numerous review videos appearing on social media.
"I didn't expect the crab stall to be so popular. Some days, customers have been waiting since 1 PM, even though the stall doesn't open until 3 PM," Mr. Dam shared.

When asked what made his crab stall so popular, Mr. Dam said he didn't have any special recipe, just what people usually do at home. "However, my crabs are authentic Ca Mau crabs, carefully selected to ensure they are fresh, meaty, and full of roe. Before selling, we clean them thoroughly, steam them until just cooked, and inspect each one to ensure quality," Mr. Dam honestly shared.
In addition, the price of 45,000 VND per steamed crab is also an important factor, suitable for the budgets of many customers, from students and office workers to families.

According to observations, customers usually choose crabs with plump, firm meat. If the crab is underweight, he is willing to exchange it on the spot or compensate with the next purchase. Each portion of crab is sold with salt, pepper, lime, and fresh chili for immediate consumption.
Currently, Mr. Dam's steamed crab stall operates from 3 PM to 3:30 PM every day. On average, he sells several dozen kilograms of crab a day, all within a single hour, sometimes only 40 minutes.
In addition, he also accepts online pre-orders for customers who want to purchase quickly.
