Children's enthusiasm and a shared space for knowledge.
On Monday morning, Nguyen Minh Quan, a fifth-grade student, had just finished breakfast when he urged his mother to take him to the Dan Hoa Community Library. His small backpack didn't contain textbooks like on school days, but a notebook and pencil to jot down interesting things he read in his favorite books.

Stepping into the spacious, airy area on the third floor of the Dan Hoa Commune General Service Center, Quan quickly found his familiar reading nook. On the neatly arranged bookshelves were hundreds of children's books, comic books, science books, history books, life skills books, along with various newspapers and magazines suitable for all ages.
“There are so many great books here. I like science books and history stories the most. Going to the library allows me to read books and meet friends, so my summer vacation is much more fun,” Quân shared.
It's not just Quân; many children in the commune also consider the library their "meeting place" this summer . Instead of spending too much time on phones or video games, they have an additional space to read books, study, explore knowledge, and socialize with friends.
Located on the 3rd floor of the Dan Hoa Commune General Service Center (Muc Xa village), the library is open free of charge on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, serving the public from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM and from 2 PM to 5 PM.
The reading space is designed to be friendly and safe, with tables, chairs, bookshelves, and a wide variety of books, creating conditions for everyone, especially children, to access knowledge easily.

Spreading a reading culture through collective effort.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thu Hang, Director of the General Service Center of Dan Hoa Commune, in the era of rapidly developing digital technology, books still play a special role in shaping thinking, personality, and sustainable learning abilities.
“Books and reading culture help each person access knowledge in a profound, sustainable, and long-lasting way. Based on this understanding, along with our mission to disseminate information, we are always concerned about building a knowledge space to serve the community right here in our locality,” Ms. Hang shared.
From those thoughts, the idea of building a community library in Dan Hoa commune gradually took shape, with the desire to create a place for learning and reading for all segments of the population, especially the younger generation.
Despite facing many difficulties, with the determination of the local Party committee and government, along with the proactive efforts of the commune's General Service Center, the library has become operational using socialized resources.
The books were donated by agencies and organizations; the bookshelves, tables, chairs, and equipment were supported by businesses and philanthropists; and many other items were gradually added from limited funds.
"Every book on the shelves, every piece of equipment in the library, embodies the affection and expectations for the learning and intellectual development of the people of Dan Hoa," Ms. Nguyen Thu Hang expressed.
According to Ms. Hang, although the library's current size is modest, it is the result of a long process of effort and perseverance by the collective staff of the Commune's General Service Center, the attention of the Party Committee and the government, and the support of many organizations and individuals.

Contributing to building a learning society.
Nguyen Thi Lan (from Muc Xa village), whose daughter loves going to the library to read, said that in the past, she was quite worried every summer because her daughter spent too much time looking at her phone.
"Since learning that the commune has a library, my child has loved it. After coming home from the library, my child even tells us about what they learned from the books. I think this is a very meaningful model, providing children with a healthy place to play while also fostering a reading habit," said Ms. Lan.
Libraries not only serve teenagers and students, but also people come to read newspapers, research documents, and acquire knowledge to support their work, production, and daily lives.
Mr. Tran Van Hung, a resident of Dan Hoa commune, shared: “Having a community library right in our locality is very valuable. Adults can read newspapers and find information, while children have a safe learning environment during the summer. I hope the library will have more books in the future.”
According to Mr. Dinh Huu Binh, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Dan Hoa commune, building a learning environment, developing a reading culture, and creating a learning society is a long-term task for the local development. Thanks to the proactive advice of the commune's General Service Center and the support of agencies, units, businesses, philanthropists, and book lovers, in less than two months, what started as a cherished idea has now become a community space for reading, learning, and accessing knowledge.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Dan Hoa commune shared that, although the facilities still need to be further improved, the establishment of the library is of great significance in spreading the reading culture, forming lifelong learning habits, and building a learning society in the area.
From the first books on the shelves, from the eager eyes of children every time they enter the reading room, the Dan Hoa Community Library is gradually becoming a cultural and intellectual hub for the locality. Not only does it provide a rewarding summer for children, but it also sows the first seeds of a passion for reading, contributing to the cultivation of knowledge, nurturing a desire for learning, and building a sustainable learning community at the grassroots level.
