After five nights of qualifying rounds held from the end of May to the end of June, the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2026 has recorded many positive signs for the local tourism industry.
According to the Organizing Committee, during the five nights of performances (May 30, June 6, June 13, June 20, and June 27), Da Nang welcomed over 557,000 overnight visitors, a 34% increase compared to the same period last year. On average, each night saw over 100,000 overnight visitors, with the night of the competition on June 27 reaching approximately 117,400 – the highest number since the beginning of the festival season.

Along with the increase in visitor numbers, the average occupancy rate of accommodation throughout the city reached over 70%, showing that the appeal of DIFF is not concentrated in just a few peak days but extends throughout many weeks, contributing to maintaining a stable flow of visitors during the summer tourist season.
This is seen as a positive sign for businesses operating in the accommodation, travel, transportation, food and beverage, and entertainment sectors, as they will have the opportunity to more effectively utilize their business capacity during the festival.
One notable point is the increasingly diverse composition of visitors. Of the total of over 557,000 overnight visitors, more than 233,000 were international tourists, accounting for approximately 42%. Visitors came from many countries and territories such as India, Kazakhstan, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Australia, the Netherlands , etc.
This group of tourists has a relatively high spending capacity and often combines various services such as accommodation, relaxation, dining, and destination experiences, contributing to increased revenue for the tourism industry.
Meanwhile, over 324,000 domestic visitors further affirmed the appeal of DIFF to the domestic market. Many families and groups of young people chose Da Nang as their weekend destination to enjoy the fireworks while combining relaxation and exploring the city's unique tourism products.

Not only the viewing area along the Han River, but also the central streets, restaurants, hotels, cafes, marinas... are bustling on the nights of the festival. After the fireworks displays, many tourists continue to visit famous destinations such as Ba Na Hills, My Khe Beach, Hoi An Ancient Town or My Son Sanctuary, creating a diverse range of experiences for their holiday.
According to experts, the appeal of DIFF comes not only from the fireworks displays but also from the continuous innovation in terms of organizational scale and program quality.
In 2026, DIFF was selected by the international travel magazine Travel + Leisure as one of the Top 9 most worthwhile festivals to experience on the planet, contributing to raising the event's status on the world tourism map.
Since its first international fireworks competition in 2008, DIFF has grown into a month-long festival featuring many of the world's leading fireworks teams, along with large-scale art, music, and technology performances.
The festival's growing appeal is also reflected in the demand for tickets. While in the past visitors often decided to attend close to the event date, many now proactively plan well in advance. This year, the Organizing Committee had to open an additional viewing area, A4, starting from the fifth night of the competition to meet the increased demand from the audience.

Major General and musician Nguyen Duc Trinh, President of the Vietnam Musicians Association and a member of the DIFF judging panel, commented that this year's competition continues to affirm the position of a fireworks festival of international stature.
According to him, the highlight was the creative spirit of the competing teams, who constantly sought out new ideas instead of repeating previous successes, contributing to the improvement of the artistic quality of each performance.
From an international perspective, Nadia Shakira Wong, CEO of Global2000 and Advisor to the DIFF Jury, believes that what sets DIFF apart from many famous fireworks festivals around the world is that each night's competition is structured as a complete artistic program, combining music, light, cultural elements, and fireworks to create an emotional journey for the audience.

The two teams vying for the DIFF 2026 championship have been revealed.
In the context of Da Nang's development as a city of events and festivals, DIFF is increasingly affirming its value beyond the scope of a fireworks competition. The event not only contributes to promoting the image of the destination but also creates momentum to boost service growth, stimulate spending, and extend the length of stay of tourists.
According to the plan, the DIFF 2026 final will take place on the evening of July 11th with a competition between two outstanding teams from China and Portugal. The Organizing Committee hopes this will be a highlight to conclude the successful festival season, while also further promoting tourism in Da Nang during the peak summer season.
