China is not the first country to hold a sleeping contest. In 2024, South Korea held a similar contest on the Han River at Yeouido Park (Seoul).
The 120 participants, mostly office workers and students with little free time, wore their most comfortable clothing and lay down on benches at the exam site, attempting to fall into a deep sleep.
To add to the challenge, the organizers tickled the contestants' noses, cheeks, and hands with feathers. Most players scratched lightly and went back to sleep. However, some were disqualified for not being able to stop laughing.
The winner of the "good sleep" contest was contestant number 56 - Yang Seo Hee, a 20-year-old university student. She came to the contest wearing comfortable athletic wear and carrying a teddy bear.
