The goal of Vietnam Sports for People with Disabilities in this 12 ASEAN Para Games is to strive for 50-55 Gold medals, and enter the top 4 countries in the medal table.
Vietnam Sports for People with Disabilities strives to achieve 50-55 Gold medals at ASEAN Para Games 12.
On the evening of June 1, the Vietnam Disabled People's Sports Delegation attending the 6th Southeast Asian Para Games held its first session under the chairmanship of the Head of the Delegation – Mr.
General inspection of the conditions to ensure food, accommodation, training ... of the athletes, Head of the delegation Nguyen Hong Minh assessed that in general, the Organizing Committee of ASEAN Para Games 12 has best supported the accommodation and food conditions to serve the delegations participating in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Ms. Ho Thanh My - Deputy General Secretary of the Southeast Asian Disability Sports Association - said that at this year's congress, the Organizing Committee tightened regulations on classification of injuries and competition content, specifically from more than 300 competitions of the original Athletics and Swimming, so far there are only more than 100 competitions in each subject.
This affects the number of participants not only Vietnam (reducing 5 athletes in Athletics), but also reducing the number of participating athletes from other countries.
However, on the principle of "minimum 4 athletes from 3 countries" to organize the competition, this is also a way to improve the quality of this regional Para Games.
According to Huynh Vinh Ai, President of the Vietnam Paralympic Association, at the 12th ASEAN Para Games, the Vietnamese delegation ranked sixth in the number of athletes participating (after Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Malaysia and the Philippines).
However, he also expressed his expectation that the success of Vietnamese Sports at the 32nd SEA Games will continue to "fly wings" for athletes with disabilities to strive to achieve the best results at this Games.
ASEAN Para Games 12 will take place in Phnom Penh (Cambodia) from June 3-9, at locations including: Morodok Techo National Stadium, Olympic Stadium and some other competition venues in the capital Phnom Penh.
The goal of Vietnam Disabled People's Sport in this congress is to strive for 50-55 gold medals and enter the top 4 countries in the medal table - equivalent to the achievement of the ASEAN Para Games 11 held last year in Solo (Indonesia).
According to Head of Delegation Nguyen Hong Minh, ASEAN Para Games 12 "is an international sporting event of great humanity, of great significance, in order to promote good relations, solidarity, friendship and mutual understanding among countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)."
The Games bring together many of the top athletes with disabilities in the region, so the level of competition is expected to be fierce. Therefore, this "will be a great opportunity for Vietnamese athletes with disabilities to show their extraordinary will and energy, overcome all difficulties and obstacles from their own shortcomings to confidently rise up, affirm their desire to win, integrate and dedicate".
