From early morning, streams of people poured into the market. Laughter, chatter, and calls to buy and sell filled the air, radiating life to this border region. Unlike modern markets with their rows of sturdy stalls, Xuan Nha market impresses with its rustic stalls built from bamboo and wood, roofed with palm leaves, creating a simple and unique beauty.
The most attractive feature of the market is the area selling local agricultural products and produce. From seasonal vegetables and fruits to stream fish, forest honey, bamboo shoots, and native livestock, everything is brought by the locals to introduce and exchange. Without elaborate advertising, the quality of the products and the sincerity and hospitality of the sellers create the market's unique appeal.

Ms. Luong Thi Thinh, from Tham Ton village, Xuan Nha commune, shared: "I participate in every weekly market organized by the commune. The market is very lively and bustling, and there are many practical goods that I don't have to go far to buy."
One of the most popular stalls was that of the people from Chiềng Hin village, offering many characteristic products such as bamboo shoots, pineapples, jackfruit, pumpkins, caged fish, wild honey, and grilled stream fish. Although she has only participated in the market three times, each market day brings a significant income to the family of Ms. Vì Thị Hạnh in Chiềng Hin village, Xuân Nha commune. Ms. Hạnh said: "We don't need expensive or fancy goods; with just produce from our garden, we receive support from the locals and tourists. Maintaining our business at the market helps my family earn extra income."

Besides being a place to sell local agricultural products, the market also serves as a hub for the exchange of goods among people from neighboring areas. Many essential items for daily life, such as clothing, household goods, and agricultural tools, are brought to meet the needs of people in the border region.
Mr. Sung Seo Phong from Tam Chung commune, Thanh Hoa province, said: "Through social media and recommendations from some locals, I learned about the Xuan Nha commune market held every Friday. I brought mainly brocade fabrics and work-related products to serve the people. Despite the rain, many people came to the market, so I sold quite a lot of goods. I will continue to participate in future markets!"

Besides the agricultural product stalls, the food court is also a popular stop for tourists. Traditional dishes like vermicelli, pho, sticky rice cooked in bamboo tubes, grilled meat... fill the market with their aroma. Many people come not only to buy and sell, but also to enjoy the food, meet friends, exchange production experiences, and share everyday stories.
As a locality with strengths in agriculture and forestry, Xuan Nha commune has a rich source of agricultural products. However, the consumption of these products still faces many difficulties. Based on this reality, the commune's People's Committee has developed a plan to organize a border market to create outlets for agricultural products and promote the local specialties to consumers.

The market was built on an area of over 1,500 m² with 19 stalls, including 17 stalls belonging to the villages, 1 stall belonging to the Fatherland Front and other social organizations of the commune, and 1 stall belonging to the cooperatives. The commune mobilized social resources and utilized readily available local materials to build the stalls, creating a space that reflects the unique identity of the border region. The market officially opened on May 20, 2026, and will be held every Friday. Mr. Giang A Ky, Chairman of the People's Committee of Xuan Nha commune, said: "Every market day attracts a large number of people from within and outside the commune. It is expected that, once the market is operating stably and well, the commune will propose to the province to allocate resources for more robust infrastructure investment; at the same time, actively promote and invite event organizers and other communes with markets to participate in exchanges and trade."
The Xuan Nha border market is gradually becoming a place for people of various ethnic groups in the region to exchange goods, and at the same time, an attractive destination that contributes to promoting local economic development, showcasing the image of the border region, and creating momentum for Xuan Nha to continue developing.
