Neymar's team fires coach

Santos parted ways with coach Pedro Caixinha.

On Instagram, Neymar shared a photo with coach Caixinha, with the caption: "Sir, I am very happy to work with you. I wish you much success in life, thank you for everything."

Santos decided to fire coach Caixinha when the team was ranked 18th out of 20 teams in the Brazilian National Championship this season. In the last 3 matches, Santos only drew and lost. The management acted quickly to improve the situation.

In addition to coach Caixinha, Santos also confirmed that they will part ways with two assistants, including Pedro Malta and Jose Pratas, fitness coach Guilherme Gomes and goalkeeping coach Jose Belman. Assistant coach Cesar Sampaio will temporarily take charge at Santos until the team finds a suitable strategist.

Caixinha was appointed as Santos manager in January, shortly after Neymar returned to the club from Al Hilal. Despite their short time together, the pair have developed a good relationship.

Santos' 0-1 defeat to Fluminense on April 14 was considered the last straw that led to coach Caixinha being fired. In this match, Neymar also left an ugly image when he cursed at Fluminense defender Samuel Xavier, according to Globo .

This match also marked the first time in 12 years that Neymar returned to the Brazilian National Championship. However, he was unable to score or assist against Fluminense. In nearly 50 minutes on the field, Neymar only had 1 shot on target and created 1 scoring opportunity for his teammates.

In the next match, Neymar and his teammates will host Atletico Mineiro at home on April 17.
