The Traffic Police Department warned against false information on its official website.

The Traffic Police Department ( Ministry of Public Security ) issued a warning on the morning of February 2nd regarding some false information circulating on social media concerning the activities of the traffic police force.

Accordingly, a recent article claimed that the Traffic Police Department "proposed a fine of 5 million VND for individuals who film traffic police officers while they are on duty without permission." The article included illustrative images allegedly created by artificial intelligence (AI).

The Traffic Police Department affirms that this information is false and untrue. The unit emphasizes that the aforementioned content being circulated could mislead the public, affecting the reputation of law enforcement agencies as well as social order.

The Traffic Police Department also stated that individuals or organizations disseminating false information will be held accountable according to the law.

Authorities advise citizens to exercise caution when accessing and sharing information on social media. Citizens should only follow and update information from official sources to avoid contributing to the spread of fake news.

Citizens still have the right to use audio and video recording devices to monitor the work of traffic police officers. However, this activity must not interfere with the performance of official duties.

At the meeting on October 30th, chaired by Mr. Ho Quang Huy, Director of the Department of Legal Document Inspection, the agencies added provisions on implementing democracy in ensuring traffic order and safety.

Here, representatives from the Department of Legal Document Review reported on the initial research results regarding several provisions in Circular 46, based on a review and comparison with the Party's guidelines, the Constitution, and current legal regulations.

In particular, the opinions also addressed the reality of monitoring, recording, filming, and photographing the work process of traffic police officers and soldiers in the past.

Relevant units affirm that, after Circular 46/2024/TT-BCA comes into effect, citizens are still allowed to record audio and video to monitor traffic police officers, but must comply with the conditions stipulated by law and must not disrupt or affect the duties of the officers while they are performing their official duties.

The circular also clarifies that public oversight must adhere to the principle of not negatively impacting the operations of government agencies.
