Early morning on August 31st (Vietnam time), many iPhone users suddenly noticed that the Facebook icon had changed from a blue background with a white "f" to a black background with a blue "f," and questioned the reason for this change.

According to discussions on global technology forums, this phenomenon seems to only occur for users of mobile devices updated to iOS 17.6.1, while other versions retain the traditional logo colors.
Facebook has not yet provided any official explanation for this change. Some believe the change may be related to Apple's upcoming iPhone launch event, scheduled for September 10th (Vietnam time). At this event, Apple will announce the new iPhone 16 series along with the iOS 18 update.
Additionally, some argue that this change could be a marketing ploy, aimed at generating curiosity and attracting user attention. This is not a new tactic in the app industry.
Although the specific reason remains unclear, the change in Facebook's logo color is generating a heated discussion among users, and many are still awaiting an official response from MetaPlatforms – Facebook's parent company.
