From digital libraries to online platforms, reading culture in schools is expanding in a flexible way, in line with the trend of digital transformation.

In response to Vietnam's Book and Reading Culture Day 2026, Ngo May Primary School (An Hai Ward) organized many beneficial activities for its students. Ms. Le Thi Em, the school principal, said that with the theme "Awakening Reading Culture in the Digital Age," besides honoring good books, the important role of reading in life, especially in the digital age, was recognized. The school organized many activities to attract student participation, such as: a question-and-answer session, interactive games, quizzes related to library books, reading skills, etc.

At the 2026 Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day, Nguyen Van Thoai High School (Hoa Xuan Ward) encouraged students to access books in a diverse, flexible, and trend-appropriate manner. A highlight of the program was the harmonious combination of traditional reading and the application of technology in accessing knowledge. Besides reading books at the library, students could experience reading e-books via QR codes, allowing for faster and more convenient access to resources.

Dinh Nguyen Xuan Giao, a student in class 11/1 at Nguyen Van Thoai High School, shared: “Reading books using QR codes is very convenient. I can access many great books with just a smartphone. This activity makes me more interested in reading and helps me discover new knowledge every day.”

According to Mr. Le Manh Tan, Vice Principal of Nguyen Van Thoai High School, to realize this year's theme of "Knowledge Stream - From Books to the Digital Space," the school has been implementing many digital transformation solutions simultaneously, especially since the school library was recently recognized by the City Department of Education and Training as a standard school library.

Currently, the school has built an electronic learning materials system that accounts for approximately 35% of its total information resources, accessed across various platforms. A highly practical highlight is the integration of QR codes in the library and directly in classrooms, allowing students to easily access the digital resource library anytime, anywhere.

According to Mr. Tan, the most significant difference between this approach and traditional reading methods is the removal of spatial barriers. Instead of having to go to the reading room and search for books on each shelf, students can access resources anytime, anywhere through the school's online platform and internal Wi-Fi system; contributing to a personalized reading experience and fitting the dynamic lifestyle of students today.

Nguyen Van Thoai High School recognizes that technology is a lever for expanding knowledge, but it should not be used to completely replace the experience of reading physical books. Therefore, the school aims to continue developing its digital library, striving to increase the percentage of digital materials to 40-50%. Along with this, the library will continue to maintain and improve the quality of reading sessions, aiming for at least 3 sessions per semester per class; and will closely collaborate with subject departments to organize interdisciplinary lessons directly in the library space…

"The school believes that when students use technology to search for and share books, but still maintain the habit of sitting together to turn the pages of physical books, that's when reading culture truly takes root and develops sustainably," Mr. Tan expressed.
