Technological innovation from businesses

BPO - Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024, of the Politburo identifies the development of science and technology (S&T), innovation, and national digital transformation as a top priority breakthrough, the main driving force for the rapid development of modern productive forces, the improvement of production relations, the renewal of national governance methods, and the enhancement of labor productivity and national development in the new era. In the context of globalization and the continuous development of S&T, supporting businesses in applying modern technology and enhancing competitiveness is a crucial task, and the need for S&T innovation within businesses is a necessary starting point.

Cashew processing companies and businesses are applying modern machinery to increase productivity, reduce labor costs, and boost profits.

During the period 2021-2024, Binh Phuoc implemented 76 science and technology tasks at various levels across many fields; effectively applied core technologies of the 4.0 industrial revolution, researched and created new plant varieties; and effectively managed geographical indications, certification marks, and collective trademarks. The province recorded over 1.1 million successful transactions totaling approximately 236,744 billion VND. Specifically, the provincial agricultural product exchange supported 99 businesses, cooperatives, and households with 390 products participating in the exchange. To date, the province has supported 5 pilot models of comprehensive digital transformation for businesses and cooperatives, and nearly 30 cooperatives across the province have applied digital transformation to production and business.

Promoting intellectual property activities

During the period 2016-2024, Binh Phuoc province had 1 geographical indication, 1 certification mark, and 2 collective trademarks granted protection certificates, including: the Binh Phuoc geographical indication for cashew nuts, the certification mark "Binh Phuoc Rubber", and the collective trademarks "Thanh Luong Free-Range Chicken" and "Thanh Luong Longan". These distinctive products, recognized by the State in accordance with intellectual property laws, present opportunities to enhance their value and reach larger markets.

In the context of globalization and economic integration, technology is a decisive factor in the competitiveness of organizations and businesses, and a prerequisite for the successful implementation of the country's industrialization and modernization. Connecting technology supply and demand is a crucial solution to promote the link between research and development and production, contributing to improving the level and capacity of technological innovation.

Currently, the number of registered entities and industrial property protection certificates in the province ranks only 46th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide; and 17th out of 19 provinces and cities in the Southern region. Therefore, promoting awareness and supporting intellectual property registration applications for businesses and individuals in the province is essential.

Specializing in the production of agricultural machinery and equipment, Linh Machinery Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (Dong Xoai City) has two devices that have been granted patents by the Intellectual Property Office, Ministry of Science and Technology: a fire-resistant rubber leaf blower for dry season and a viscous fluid pump. Company director Nguyen Van Linh stated: "A patent confirms the exclusive ownership rights of an individual or enterprise in an invention registered in accordance with the law. Products with patents help businesses establish their brand."

Digital transformation in businesses

Recognizing the urgent need for digital transformation, businesses in the province have actively applied enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems; boosted online sales channels, promoted products on digital platforms; and focused on data management and cybersecurity. In recent years, processing businesses in the province have been moving towards automating their production lines to improve efficiency and labor productivity.

Dai Hoang Kim Automation Machinery Manufacturing Joint Stock Company (district)   Phu Rieng invests in advanced technology to produce machinery and auxiliary components for the cashew processing industry.

Ms. Vu Thi Ngoc Diem, General Director of Dai Hoang Kim Automation Machinery Manufacturing Joint Stock Company (Phu Rieng district), shared: "The company focuses on investing in automation technology for its production process, while expanding the factory's scale with capital reaching hundreds of billions of VND to produce various types of machinery and auxiliary components for the cashew processing industry. With a modern, closed-loop system and high-tech machinery, the company has shortened production time, increased productivity, and automated the cashew shelling process. In particular, the advantage of this equipment system is that it helps cashew processing businesses increase profits and reduce costs in the production process."

Improving the quality of human resources.

Currently, skilled human resources in the fields of engineering, automation, and data management are a major need for business development. Therefore, training in science and technology skills for local human resources needs to focus on programming, operating automated systems, data management, and cybersecurity. Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Deputy Director of the Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Center (IPTC), Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, shared: Binh Phuoc needs to focus on building brands and diversifying cashew products; establishing a closed-loop process from planting, harvesting, post-harvest processing, product promotion linked to tourism and domestic and international distribution; digital transformation and innovation of production lines. In addition, it is necessary to promote innovation, identify intellectual property assets and innovate production technology; and build a strategy for electricity security for production and business. Simultaneously, implement digital transformation solutions for businesses such as focusing on enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, e-commerce, and data management. This helps businesses digitize their operational processes, increase competitiveness, and expand their consumer markets. Develop automation technology and design advanced production lines in manufacturing and processing to minimize labor costs, increase production efficiency, and meet export demands.
