Comrade Vo Minh Tan, Secretary of the Phuoc Thai Commune Party Committee, said: The commune currently has over 2,700 households with over 13,000 people living mainly from agriculture. During the past term, with the joint efforts and dedication of the Party Committee, government, and people, Phuoc Thai commune effectively implemented the resolutions of the 2020-2025 Party Congress and achieved quite comprehensive results, with many targets met or exceeded. The economy has grown significantly; the economic structure and crop and livestock structure have shifted in the right direction; infrastructure has received investment; renewable energy projects and high-tech agricultural models have been widely implemented, creating momentum for the local economy.
Recognizing agricultural production as the main direction of economic development, the commune has focused on mobilizing people to transform the structure of crops and livestock; planning and rearranging crops and livestock according to the strengths of each region, aiming to create competitive agricultural products; and encouraging people to introduce new crops that are adaptable to the climate and have high productivity and quality. The locality has also built many production development models and applied science and technology to cultivation, bringing high economic efficiency, reducing investment costs, and helping farmers increase their income, such as: the "1 must, 5 reductions" model for rice cultivation with an area of 2,500 hectares, helping farmers increase profits by about 15 million VND/hectare. In particular, the large-scale field model has been implemented with an area of 220 hectares, achieving a yield of 7 tons/hectare, contributing to increasing people's income; and the model of producing clean rice according to VietGAP standards with an area of 15 hectares. In addition, the locality has implemented a model of growing green pomelos and apples on an area of 20 hectares. Furthermore, the people have focused on developing livestock and poultry farming in the form of farms and family farms, with a herd size of over 4,800 head of livestock and 42,000 head of poultry... To date, the value of agricultural and forestry production has reached 687.9 billion VND, accounting for 62.1% of the total.
Leveraging the potential and advantages of the locality, in recent years, with the attention of the province, district, and commune, Phuoc Thai has attracted investment in many key projects, especially renewable energy projects. To date, the commune has 4 solar power plants with a total capacity of 250MW; 4 rooftop solar power farms combining livestock and crop cultivation, with a total capacity of 10MW; and the development of individual and household rooftop solar power systems with a total capacity of 100KW. In addition, the commune also focuses on expanding production and business activities in various types of small-scale industries, mechanical repair, handicraft products, and agricultural processing; and promoting the development of trade and service activities... As a result, the total production value of the small-scale industry and construction sector reached 224.8 billion VND; and the value of trade and services reached 194.99 billion VND.
Implementing the National Target Program for New Rural Development, over the past five years, the locality has mobilized over 30.58 billion VND to invest in infrastructure construction. To date, 100% of inter-village roads in the commune have been concreted; 91.6% of village roads have been concreted, and 73.6% of internal field roads have been concreted; 100% of households have access to electricity and clean water...; 4 out of 7 villages have met the standards of new rural villages, making a significant contribution to improving the lives of the people. Along with that, the fields of education and health have been continuously improved; social welfare policies have been given attention and implemented. Currently, the poverty rate in the commune is only 2.46%.
Visiting Phuoc Thai today, walking on the clean, beautiful concrete roads and seeing the well-built houses, we are truly delighted by the transformation of the locality. To create momentum for further development, in the coming years, the Party Committee, government, and people of Phuoc Thai commune will continue to leverage their potential and strengths, creating breakthroughs to bring Phuoc Thai to comprehensive development.
