The Department of Administrative Management of Social Order, Ministry of Public Security, has announced that citizens can renew their identity cards completely free of charge through the VNeID application when there are changes in administrative boundaries.
Accordingly, the replacement of identity cards applies to citizens whose identity cards are still valid and printed with the old administrative unit, while their place of residence and administrative unit have changed due to reorganization or adjustment. Citizens will be exempt from fees if they select the reason "due to reorganization or adjustment of administrative units". In addition, citizens can schedule appointments flexibly, track the status, and receive results at the police station or via postal service.
The processing time is 7 working days from the date of receipt of complete and valid documents.
