The FIFA rankings are based on the performance of national teams in matches and tournaments recognized by the International Football Federation. The points of each team are calculated using the elo formula, depending on the match results, the importance of the match and the difference in ranking with the opponent.
The position of teams on the FIFA rankings is important when seeding international tournaments at the continental and world confederation levels.
As of June 2023, the Argentina team is at the top of the FIFA rankings. The Vietnam team is ranked 95th in the world, 16th in Asia and first in Southeast Asia.
