" Iraq is a very strong opponent and this is a crucial match for the Vietnamese team. VFF and the players understand this clearly. Coach Troussier will come up with the best tactics to help the Vietnamese team overcome the challenge ," VFF General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi told VTC News.

Coach Troussier said he had called up 80 players for four training sessions to establish the style of play he wanted. The French coach emphasized that the Vietnamese team has many players who have achieved glory such as winning the AFF Cup, winning the SEA Games, winning the U23 Asian Cup runner-up position, and reaching the quarter-finals of the Asian Cup. All of them have had good achievements in the past, but overcoming that threshold is not easy.

The match between Vietnam and Iraq is of great significance.

The match between Vietnam and Iraq is of great significance.

Recently, many young players have been called up to refresh the squad and supplement seniors such as Quang Hai, Hoang Duc, and Que Ngoc Hai. The friendly matches over the past few months are expected to help young players gain more experience and be ready to play in major tournaments when needed.

According to the VFF leaders, the Vietnamese team is making the most thorough preparations for the match against the Philippines. The players are constantly practicing on artificial turf - matching the conditions for playing in the Philippines.

" We hope to receive support from local fans and buy tickets to support the team not only for this match but also for many upcoming matches. The Vietnamese team is in dire need of support from fans, " said Mr. Duong Nghiep Khoi.

Ticket prices for the match between Vietnam and Iraq in the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup have four denominations: 200,000 VND, 300,000 VND, 450,000 VND and 600,000 VND. The Vietnam Football Federation will sell tickets online from November 7.

Vietnam will face Iraq on November 21 at My Dinh Stadium, which will also be the home stadium for all of Vietnam’s home matches in the second qualifying round for the 2026 World Cup in Asia.

Mr. Duong Nghiep Khoi affirmed that ticket sales will continue to be implemented in many different forms. VFF plans to sell directly at the headquarters when the match is near. Agencies and departments that have written requests to purchase tickets will be supported as quickly as possible to have tickets for their officials and employees to cheer for the Vietnamese team.
