Couple arrested for forging land ownership certificates and defrauding 19.7 billion VND.

The Criminal Police Department of Dong Nai Provincial Police has arrested Tran Thanh Binh (52 years old) and Nguyen Thi Thanh Nguyet (45 years old, Binh's wife - both residing in Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai), two suspects wanted for forging land ownership certificates to defraud and misappropriate tens of billions of VND.

According to the police, in 2018, Binh and Nguyet used 11 fake land ownership certificates to mortgage and sign fake contracts, defrauding a number of people of a total of more than 19.7 billion VND.

Upon receiving the crime report, the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Dong Nai Provincial Police Department launched an investigation and subsequently issued a decision to initiate a criminal case. On September 12, 2023, they indicted and arrested Binh and Nguyet, detaining them for investigation and clarification of the acts of "Fraudulent appropriation of property" and "Using forged documents of agencies and organizations".

Because Binh and his wife had fled, the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Dong Nai Provincial Police issued an arrest warrant. On January 14, 2024, the Criminal Police Department of Dong Nai Provincial Police arrested Binh and Nguyet while they were hiding in Da Lat City ( Lam Dong Province).
