New position, new aspirations.
According to Resolution 202/2025/QH15, after the reorganization, the country will have 34 provincial-level administrative units, including 6 centrally-administered cities and 28 provinces. Of these, 52 provinces and cities will be reorganized to form 23 new provincial-level administrative units. An Giang (new) is honored to be one of the newly established provincial-level administrative units.
The merger of An Giang and Kien Giang provinces into the (new) An Giang province is not only administratively significant, but also represents a connection of historical, cultural, and human values. An Giang and Kien Giang, two regions deeply intertwined throughout history, share a common fertile southern land and a shared vision of building a prosperous and beautiful homeland. This merger will create a superior combined strength, a tremendous driving force for socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security, and building a clean and strong political system.
With its strategic geographical location, abundant natural resources, and the diligent and creative traditions of its people, the new An Giang province promises to be an important growth pole for the Mekong Delta region and the whole country. The new An Giang province is one of the localities with the largest natural area in the region, with nearly 9,900 km2 and a population of over 4.95 million people; it comprises 102 communes, wards, and special economic zones. This provides favorable conditions for comprehensive planning and the development of key economic sectors such as high-tech agriculture, ecotourism, marine economy, trade, and services. The merger will optimize resource allocation, attract investment, promote regional linkages, create new value chains, and bring practical benefits to the people...
