The 14th National Congress of the Party – a momentous political event with strategic significance for the future development of the country – was successfully concluded, ushering in a new era for the Vietnamese nation.
The Spring of the Year of the Horse 2026 marks the 96th spring since the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam . Over the past 96 years, with unwavering resolve and correct leadership, the Party has led the Vietnamese revolution from one victory to another, writing glorious chapters in history.
This spring is also associated with the election of the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term, which is especially significant as we have just celebrated the 80th anniversary of the first General Election of the Vietnamese National Assembly. This further affirms the people's right to self-governance in a socialist rule-of-law state, and affirms the position and role of the highest power organ of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the process of building and protecting the country.
The Spring of the Year of the Horse 2026 also marks the 40th spring since our country and people steadfastly marched forward under the banner of the Party's Renovation. Celebrating 40 years of the Renovation cause is a time for us to reflect on and contemplate the core lessons of this historical transformation, and then creatively apply them to the development of the country in the new era.
For Hanoi – “the heart of the country” – this spring holds a truly special meaning. This is the first spring of implementing the Resolution of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Resolution of the 18th Congress of the Hanoi City Party Committee, for the 2025-2030 term.
With a thousand-year tradition of culture and heroism, guided by the motto "Discipline, professionalism - Breakthrough, creativity - Efficiency, sustainability," and driven by self-reliance and a strong aspiration for progress, Hanoi affirms its leading role, pioneering and proactively engaging early in realizing the political tasks of the Central Government and the city, creating momentum for the development of the capital and the country, fulfilling President Ho Chi Minh's aspiration: "...to make our capital a peaceful, beautiful, and healthy capital both materially and spiritually," contributing to the country's steady progress in an era of prosperous development and a happy people.
