In recent days, at several stores and supermarkets in Can Tho City, educational toys, physical activity toys, and learning support products have been sought after by many parents.
According to a representative from Soc Trang Bookstore Supermarket, although it is not their main business line, the store proactively adds many products suitable for different age groups, focusing on toys with educational value and supporting the holistic development of children.
Notably, current parental preferences have shifted significantly, with parents increasingly prioritizing safety, usability, and the ability to support children's skill development, rather than focusing solely on aesthetics or entertainment.
Mr. Tao Thanh Cao, owner of a toy store at Long Phu Market, Can Tho City, said: “Creative building blocks, educational toys, and active play toys are always popular choices among parents. Besides that, consumers are paying more attention to the origin and quality of products to ensure the safety of children during use.”
Many families view buying "educational" toys for children as a way to create more opportunities for them to explore their interests, develop their talents, and form essential life skills. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, residing in Truong Khanh commune, said: "Summer vacation is a time when children have free time, so our family prioritizes choosing building and puzzle sets. These products not only help children have fun but also train their thinking ability, patience, and problem-solving skills."
Meanwhile, Mr. Tran Van Phuc, residing in Tan Thanh commune, researched and selected science experiment kits and creative toys to encourage his children to explore and discover. He believes that playtime is also an opportunity for children to discover their personal interests, improve their self-learning abilities, and proactively access new knowledge.
Mr. Pham Quoc Viet, residing in My Tu commune, chose to enroll his children in football, badminton, and cycling. According to him, these sports help his children improve their physical fitness, reduce screen time (on phones and tablets), and provide more opportunities for them to socialize with friends.
Spending too much time on electronic devices during the summer can negatively impact children's physical health, communication skills, and social development. Therefore, providing opportunities for children to participate in experiential activities, outdoor play, or use appropriate educational products will contribute to their development of thinking, creativity, and physical abilities.
