After the merger and implementation of two-level local government, Hai Phong city currently has 107/114 communes, wards, and special zones with Farmers' Associations under the City Farmers' Association.
Clearly identifying the emulation movement for good production and business as a driving force for farmer members to strive together, the Standing Committee of the City Farmers' Association strengthens coordination with related sectors to help members register to participate in good production and business to receive support in capital, technology, seeds, trade promotion, etc.
In An Truong commune, which has a specialized area for growing dragon fruit, the Commune Farmers' Association plays an important role in building a good economic model and replicating effective methods. Mr. Nguyen Duy Mien, Chairman of An Truong Commune Farmers' Association, said: "Initially, members only grew regular dragon fruit, so the selling price was not high. Recently, the association has built a model of growing organic dragon fruit, replicating it to many farmer members. Thanks to that, dragon fruit grown in An Truong can be sold at supermarkets and safe agricultural product stores, bringing high economic value to farmers."
Along with An Truong commune, the Farmers' Association of Khuc Thua Du commune also strengthens connections and supports farmers in consuming agricultural products.
Notably, the Farmers' Association in many communes also set a target that each farmer association branch will help 2 to 3 poor households, and each good producer and business member will help 1 to 2 members escape poverty.
On average, each farm or household receives 10-20 workers from poor households and those in difficult circumstances, thereby creating jobs and stable income...

With the determination to develop ecological agriculture , modern countryside, civilized farmers, comrade Trinh Van Thien, member of the City Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the City Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Chairman of the City Farmers' Association emphasized: Hai Phong has a rural population accounting for about 64% of the city's total population. Many farmer members boldly invested and implemented effective agricultural economic models, contributing to increasing income and creating jobs for many local workers.
The City Farmers' Association strives to have 60% or more of farming households register to strive every year and 50% or more of registered households achieve the title of excellent producer and trader at all levels.
To develop sustainable rural areas in the direction of ecological agriculture, modern rural areas and civilized farmers, in the coming time, the City Farmers' Association at all levels will continue to proactively innovate the content and forms of activities, closely following reality, in accordance with the implementation of 2-level local government.
