As the youngest female reporter of the delegation participating in the recent Lunar New Year trip, reporter Uyen Nhi (Thanh Nien Newspaper) shared: This is truly a very special and memorable memory in her journalism career. Uyen Nhi has just started working at Thanh Nien Newspaper, in the southern region. When she received the notice that she was on the list of the national press delegation participating in the DK1 platform, the young female reporter was happy, excited and looked forward to every hour.

“Only when I went there myself did I fully appreciate the greatness and significance of these structures. Meeting and talking with the soldiers who are on duty day and night here, I both admired and loved the journalism profession that helped me have a meaningful trip,” Uyen Nhi shared.

Recalling the first days at sea, when she was not used to the swaying of the ship, many times this young female reporter was so seasick that she could not eat or drink anything. “But the biggest worry was that if I did not ensure my health, it would affect my work, especially when I had to climb ropes to approach and work on the platforms. But every time I thought about going to the platforms and meeting the soldiers, I tried to overcome it. Every moment at sea, every detail of life, activities, and duties at sea left me with profound, priceless memories,” Uyen Nhi added.

For reporter Minh Thong (Dak Lak Newspaper), the working trip to the DK1 platforms was an opportunity for him to produce the most authentic reports about the lives of marine soldiers.

“I always hope that through this special mission, I will be able to record the most ordinary and genuine moments of the marine soldiers on the platforms. From simple meals, intimate conversations, to the moments of guarding, patrolling, and taking care of vegetables together... All are priceless images that I want to convey to readers,” Minh Thong shared.

Recalling the memory of the first time he set foot on the DK1/9 platform, reporter Minh Thong expressed his impression and emotion with the image of him and his colleagues sitting and chatting with the soldiers while wrapping green banh chung together. “They told us about their families, their simple dreams, and their homesickness. Those stories touched my heart, helping me understand more about the silent sacrifices of the resilient marine soldiers,” Minh Thong confided.

As for female reporter Dieu Huong (Quang Binh Newspaper), the first special assignment at DK1 platforms helped her change a lot in her thinking and working style. “Before going, I read and researched a lot, thinking that I was very well prepared mentally and in terms of knowledge. But when I set foot on the platform, I saw that everything was far beyond what I had imagined. Life on the platforms still has its difficulties, but the soldiers' spirit is always optimistic and love life, which I admire very much,” Dieu Huong shared.

She was particularly impressed by the solidarity, comradeship, and teamwork among the marines. “The soldiers are not only teammates but also brothers in a family. They live together, share and always strive to complete their missions. Witnessing that directly, I appreciate the value of comradeship and teamwork even more. That is truly the inspiration and valuable material for me to convey in each of my spiritual works to readers,” Dieu Huong shared more.

For reporter Quang Tan ( Gia Lai Newspaper), he has worked in Truong Sa archipelago, but this is the first time he has worked at DK1 platforms. Quang Tan shared that this is not only a special working trip but also a big "school", where he and journalists across the country are trained in both expertise and life skills.

“The rigs are located in the southern continental shelf of the Fatherland, where they face harsh weather, big waves, strong winds all year round, especially during rough seas... Traveling and living on the ship and even approaching the rigs require each journalist to have good health, resilience and high adaptability,” the young reporter confided.

During this memorable journey, reporter Quang Tan said that he also learned skills to manage and overcome difficulties in real conditions to complete his professional work. “With limited time and conditions, each journalist must practice the ability to filter information, conduct quick interviews, take photos and film effectively in all situations. Along with that, skills in managing and preserving camera equipment, computers... from the impact of the marine environment are also very necessary,” reporter Quang Tan added.

Reporter Van Tuyen (Bac Giang Radio and Television Station) said that after the working trip to the DK1 platforms, in addition to learning how to adapt quickly, he also added to himself the skills of supporting and working effectively in a team. “In a special environment like on ships and platforms, solidarity and having effective plans to support each other between journalists and officers and soldiers are extremely necessary.

In addition, each journalist needs to have the ability to observe carefully to quickly grasp the story, record the most realistic and vivid images to be able to depict the life, resilience, and silent sacrifice of the marines," Van Tuyen confided.

“Directly witnessing the lives and sacrifices of officers and soldiers at the forefront of the storm helped me understand more deeply the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland, thereby enhancing my sense of responsibility at work. These memorable experiences are rich materials for me to create profound, emotional journalistic works that touch the hearts of readers,” Van Tuyen shared.

It can be said that the special assignment at the DK1 platforms not only brought meaningful journalistic works, but also left in the hearts of young reporters unforgettable memories of the bravery and resilience of the marine soldiers at the forefront of the wind and waves. Those are beautiful memories, memorable assignments and will forever be the motivation for them to continue to dedicate themselves to their profession, bringing to readers and the public beautiful stories about soldiers, about the sea and islands, the homeland, and the beloved Fatherland.
