With impressive results in 2025 and a well-structured roadmap for the new term, Dong Thap is realizing its aspiration to break through, affirming its position as an important gateway connecting the region and reaching out to the wider world in the new opportunities of the Year of the Horse 2026.

MIRACLES FROM INNER STRENGTH AND BOLD DECISIONS

With an area of nearly 6,000 square kilometers and a population of over 4.2 million people, the province's development space is no longer confined to inland fields.

It stretches from the border with Cambodia – the source of the Tien River – all the way to the connections to the East Sea via a vital waterway system.

The combination of border economy and maritime-oriented thinking has given Dong Thap rare development potential, allowing the province to closely connect from the southwestern border to the southern key economic region.

Looking back on 40 years of reform, Dong Thap has written a remarkable story through sound and bold policies. From a deeply flooded, saline, and barren Dong Thap Muoi region, thanks to the policy of using agriculture as a leverage, implementing the Go Cong freshwater project and the agricultural sector restructuring plan, the province has truly transformed "difficulties into advantages".

The shift from single-crop to three-crop high-quality rice production is not just about yield. It's a revolution in thinking, moving from "agricultural production" to "agricultural economics."

Improving land utilization efficiency and increasing farmers' income has propelled Dong Thap to the top position in the Mekong Delta region in terms of rice production. This achievement makes a significant contribution to national food security and affirms the value of agricultural products on the world export map.

The year 2025 has passed, leaving unforgettable marks on the officials, Party members, and people of Dong Thap province.

This has been a challenging year for Dong Thap, as it has had to simultaneously undertake a "dual task": consolidating its administrative apparatus after the merger while also promoting economic growth amidst a complex and volatile global situation.

However, with a spirit of solidarity and a decisive approach of "running while queuing," the province has achieved significant results, creating a solid foundation for the next phase of breakthroughs.

The reorganization of the administrative apparatus was carried out urgently, scientifically, and with a strong sense of humanity.

The province successfully organized the Party Congresses at the grassroots level and the first Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term. This is considered a historical milestone, creating new energy for the leadership apparatus with the overarching principle: "The new organizational model must be better and more effective."

The alignment between the Party's will and the people's aspirations has been concretized by impressive figures.

In 2025, the province achieved and surpassed 26 out of 27 targets set by the Provincial Party Committee's resolution; notably, export turnover reached approximately 9.21 billion USD, an increase compared to the previous year; the number of newly established businesses exceeded the plan, with 2,730 new businesses; the poverty rate decreased to 0.71%, a very low level compared to the national average. In particular, GRDP increased by 7.38%, ranking second in the Mekong Delta region and 23rd nationwide.

FIVE PILLARS OF GREAT ASPIRATIONS

Entering 2026, marking the beginning of the 2026-2030 five-year plan, Dong Thap province is not complacent with its achievements. The province has set challenging yet confident goals: striving for a GRDP growth rate of 8% - 8.5% and developing approximately 3,000 new businesses.

The material and spiritual lives of the people of Dong Thap are constantly improving.

Dong Thap has long been a "shining star" on the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) map. Entering a new phase, the province has determined that it will not manage through rigid "administrative orders."

The government has completely shifted to a service-oriented mindset, using the satisfaction of citizens and businesses as the highest measure of success. Improving the investment environment is not just about preferential policies on paper, but about working closely with and resolving difficulties for investors.

Continuing the restructuring of the agricultural sector, Dong Thap focuses on effectively implementing the project "Sustainable development of 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice cultivation".

This is not just about the area of land, but about Dong Thap's commitment to developing responsible agriculture.

Establishing large-scale production areas, linked to planting area codes and traceability systems, will be the "passport" for Dong Thap to reach even greater heights.

Key transportation projects, inter-regional expressways, and the waterway system on the Tien River are being accelerated to remove logistics bottlenecks.

Dong Thap's vision also extends to the digital economy with the development of the "Mekong Software Park" and the transformation of the postal system into a modern logistics infrastructure for e-commerce.

To connect the Southeast region and the Mekong Delta, Dong Thap has clearly defined development corridors. Specifically, the My Tho - Cao Lanh axis will receive significant investment to become two bustling service and trade centers, acting as a "nucleus" to spread momentum throughout the province.

In addition, the province prioritizes the development of border economic zones and researches land reclamation and coastal urban projects that adapt to climate change, creating living and working spaces for the people.

Dong Thap's breakthrough in the years to come, up to 2025, is a testament to the will, aspirations, and strong transformation in the mindset of the Land of Pink Lotus.

From a remote, purely agricultural area, Dong Thap is rising to become a dynamic growth pole, a model of harmonious combination between preserving cultural identity and embracing modern technology.

The year 2026, the Year of the Horse, carries the spirit of new opportunities. With the solid foundation built in 2025 and a well-structured strategic roadmap, Dong Thap will certainly realize its aspiration for breakthroughs, not only for the prosperity of the province itself, but also contributing to the overall development of the Mekong Delta region and the country.
