The Italian national team got off to a good start in their friendly match against Ecuador in the US, opening the scoring in the 3rd minute. Midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini unleashed a powerful shot from outside the penalty area, beating goalkeeper Javier Burrai.

Three minutes after the opening goal, the Italian team executed a well-coordinated attack, bringing the ball from their own half to the edge of the Ecuadorian goal. Unfortunately, Federico Dimarco's header went wide of the post.

Federico Dimarco repeated his unfortunate mistake with a header that went wide of the post from a similar position in the 40th minute, despite having made a good run into the penalty area to receive a cross from Raoul Bellanova.

In the second half, the Ecuador team played better and nearly equalized in the 68th minute. However, Gonzalo Plata's shot was saved by goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario. This was also Ecuador's only shot on target out of 10 shots in the match.

Italy sealed a 2-0 victory in injury time. Nicolo Barella broke through on a counter-attack, finding himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper before chipping the ball into the net with a delicate finish.

The Italian national team concluded their series of friendly matches in the US with two victories, defeating Venezuela 2-1 and Ecuador 2-0 respectively.
