On July 15th, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Thanh, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ca Mau province, announced that the total number of visitors to the locality in the first six months of the year reached 5,120,000, an increase of 18% compared to the same period in 2024. Total tourism revenue is estimated at 4,890 billion VND, an increase of 16.3% compared to the same period.
Besides the achievements, the tourism industry in Ca Mau province also faces many difficulties and obstacles that need to be addressed promptly so that the province's tourism industry can develop in proportion to the local potential and advantages.
Specifically, the duplication of tourism products makes it difficult for localities to clearly identify their regional competitive advantages; limited tourism transportation infrastructure and the deterioration of many roads make it difficult for tourist destinations and areas to attract visitors…
Simultaneously, many tourist destinations in the area are currently small-scale and lack focused investment, thus failing to retain tourists for extended stays; there is a lack of 4-5 star resorts, large-scale entertainment complexes, and vibrant night-time shopping and dining centers. The tourism workforce is limited, lacking managers and tour guides with in-depth knowledge of local culture, digital skills, and foreign languages; personnel at community-based tourism destinations are not properly trained, and services lack professionalism.
In the spirit of innovation and maximizing the potential and advantages of the locality, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ca Mau province will focus on solutions to develop the tourism industry, such as: developing tourism development plans and projects to serve as a basis for attracting investment; strengthening communication and promotion of tourism on digital platforms as well as building a tourism brand identity.
Attracting targeted investment into key tourist areas of the province, including: the Ca Mau Cape National Tourist Area, and the Song Doc - Hon Da Bac - Nha Mat coastal resort area. Enhancing human resource capacity for tourism development, digital transformation, and the application of technology in communication and promotion; improving the quality of services at destinations.
"The tourism industry in Ca Mau province, after the merger, is facing an opportunity for breakthroughs, but to 'go far and go steadily,' we must address the root causes of bottlenecks in planning, infrastructure, investment, human resources, institutions, and technology. This is a prerequisite for building a truly professional and efficient tourism industry, commensurate with the potential of the southernmost region of the country," said Mr. Nguyen Quoc Thanh, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ca Mau province.
