Tourism in Cat Ba is increasingly thriving.

According to Mr. Pham Tri Tuyen, Head of the Culture, Information, Sports & Tourism Department of Cat Hai District, in the first six months of 2024, Cat Ba tourism welcomed and served over 1.6 million visitors. Of these, international visitors accounted for over 572,000 (more than 2.5 times compared to the same period in 2023) and domestic visitors over 1 million. Total revenue from accommodation and food services reached nearly 1,500 billion VND (more than 1.5 times compared to the same period). Revenue from entrance fees and overnight stays in the bays of the Cat Ba archipelago reached 104 billion VND (exceeding 30% compared to the same period).

To date, Cat Hai district has 313 tourist accommodation establishments with 6,566 rooms (including hotels, guesthouses, and houses with rooms for rent to tourists). Among these, there are two 5-star tourist accommodation establishments: M'gallery Resort Hotel and Flamingo Cat Ba Resort Complex, with over 1000 rooms and a variety of services.

Furthermore, the modern cruise ship system operating in the bays of the Cat Ba archipelago has been gradually meeting the needs of high-spending tourists, especially international visitors . Of the 144 vessels transporting tourists for sightseeing and overnight stays in the bays of the Cat Ba archipelago, there are 79 sightseeing boats and 65 tourist accommodation vessels with 1,212 rooms in the bays.

The opening ceremony of the Cat Ba tourism season in 2024 was impressive and full of emotion.

In addition, the food and beverage service system in the area has also been invested in and upgraded in scale and quality, with 77 restaurants providing food and beverage services, effectively meeting the needs of tourists visiting Cat Ba.

Overall, tourism in Cat Ba has shown more positive signs compared to the same period in 2023. To achieve these results, the Department of Culture, Information, Sports and Tourism of Cat Hai district proactively advised the District People's Committee to focus on and mobilize all resources to organize a series of cultural, sports, and tourism events and activities to promote Cat Ba tourism and the Ha Long Bay-Cat Ba Archipelago World Natural Heritage site.

Furthermore, state management of tourism in the area has been strengthened. Inter-agency inspection teams have intensified their activities to address shortcomings and weaknesses in tourism and service businesses in the area, as well as promptly resolve complaints and feedback from tourists, contributing to building the image of Cat Ba as a tourist destination and creating a healthy and civilized tourism business environment.
