During this time, many tourists choose to visit historical revolutionary sites, such as the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Area at the Presidential Palace, Hoa Lo Prison, and the Vietnam Military History Museum. These destinations welcome a large number of students, and international tourists who come to learn about history and pay tribute to previous generations.
Thematic exhibitions and guided tours were enhanced, creating a profound and engaging space for traditional education . Particularly during the two peak days of April 30th and May 1st, the Management Board of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum coordinated the distribution of free drinking water, milk, and bread to tens of thousands of visitors. During the five-day holiday, Hanoi is estimated to have welcomed over 875,000 visitors, an increase of 18.64% compared to the same period last year.
Equally vibrant, Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh province is a booming tourist destination this holiday season. During this period, Quang Ninh province welcomed over 1 million visitors, with Ha Long City alone accounting for nearly 600,000, including almost 40,000 international tourists. The islands of Co To, Van Don, Mong Cai, and Bai Tu Long Bay also saw a surge in visitors; beaches were crowded, and accommodation occupancy was high. Cruise ships in the bay operated at full capacity, with many vessels fully booked since mid-April...
During this period, Hai Phong also welcomed approximately 780,000 visitors, an increase of nearly 40% compared to the same period last year. The average occupancy rate across the city reached over 80%, with Cat Ba and Do Son experiencing 100% occupancy on peak days.
Sa Pa (Lao Cai) continues to be a symbol of highland tourism, with Fansipan peak adorned with the red flag with a yellow star, a symbol of national pride. Cat Ba (Hai Phong), Moc Chau (Son La), Tam Dao (Vinh Phuc), Ha Giang... have also become prominent choices, thanks to their cool climate, beautiful nature, and increasingly upgraded tourism services.
Coastal and island tourism is reaping huge profits.
According to the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the total number of visitors during the holiday reached approximately 610,000, an increase of over 50% compared to the same period in 2024, including 105,000 international visitors. Total tourism revenue is estimated at 2,426 billion VND. Popular destinations such as Ba Na Hills, Son Tra Peninsula, and Marble Mountains were always packed with visitors. Hotel occupancy rates reached 100% on peak days, even in areas far from the city center. Notably, Da Nang welcomed 654 flights during this period, a 12% increase compared to normal days, along with a cruise ship carrying over 2,000 international tourists and more than 18,100 tourists on the Han River cruise.
Hue City was equally vibrant, welcoming 270,000 visitors, including 54,000 international tourists, generating revenue of 590 billion VND. Popular attractions included the Hue Imperial Citadel, Thanh Toan tiled bridge, Thuy Xuan incense village, beaches, streams, and waterfalls. Independent travel by motorbike and private car continued to be a popular trend. Similarly, Quang Nam province recorded 282,000 visitors, a 21% increase, including 143,000 international tourists. Hoi An, My Son, and coastal resorts were popular destinations, with 3-5 star hotel occupancy rates exceeding 90%.
In particular, coastal and island tourist destinations became a highlight during this period. In Quang Ngai, the province welcomed approximately 231,000 visitors, an increase of 26%, with estimated revenue reaching 219 billion VND. Ly Son Island recorded nearly 100% occupancy. Boat racing festivals, rural cuisine, and community tourism also attracted a large number of tourists. In Ha Tinh, Thien Cam beach resort welcomed over 90,000 visitors, an increase of 10-15%, with estimated revenue of over 80 billion VND... Meanwhile, Binh Dinh province recorded nearly 320,000 visitors, with revenue of approximately 350 billion VND. Ky Co - Eo Gió alone welcomed 40,000 visitors, along with new tourism products such as train tours exploring the martial arts land or science tours at Quy Hoa, attracting thousands of visitors each day.
In Binh Thuan province, on April 4-5, the Phu Quy Port Management Board reported that during the 5-day holiday, 3 high-speed ferries operated continuously, completing a total of 27 round trips, transporting over 13,000 passengers from the mainland to Phu Quy island and vice versa. On average, the number of passengers entering and leaving the port reached over 2,600 per day. Meanwhile, in Khanh Hoa province, the locality welcomed over 1 million tourists during this period, generating total tourism revenue exceeding 1.377 billion VND. Sunny weather, increased air and rail services, and a smooth-running highway system created favorable conditions for tourists visiting Khanh Hoa.
Meanwhile, information from the Vung Tau City Tourist Management and Support Center (Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) indicates that during the April 30th and May 1st holidays, tourist areas in the city welcomed and served approximately 366,000 visitors, an increase of nearly 25% compared to the same period last year.
This year's holiday saw the opening of a section of the Thuy Van road (Bai Sau beach) renovation project, partially meeting the recreational needs of locals and tourists visiting Vung Tau City. The province also organized many unique festivals, cultural, artistic, and sporting events, attracting a large number of visitors, especially young people. The holiday was safe; the water rescue team promptly rescued 8 people who were drowning or swept away by waves while swimming; assisted in searching for and returning 17 lost children to their families; and reminded and dispersed 132 groups of tourists eating and drinking on the beach.
According to the Kien Giang Provincial Department of Tourism, from April 30th to May 4th, the province is estimated to have welcomed 323,754 visitors, an increase of 18.8% compared to the same period last year. Of these, international visitors accounted for 28,556 (an increase of 19.4%), and domestic visitors accounted for 295,198 (an increase of 18.7%). Total tourism revenue is estimated at 986.4 billion VND, a strong increase of 67.2%.
During the 5-day holiday from April 30th to May 1st, Ca Mau province welcomed over 239,300 visitors, an increase of nearly 13% compared to the same holiday period in 2024. Total tourism revenue reached 235 billion VND, an increase of over 41% compared to the same holiday period. Some tourist areas and attractions that attracted a large number of visitors included: Ca Mau Cape Tourist Area, Hon Da Bac Tourist Area, community tourism households in Dat Mui, Tu Su stork garden, U Minh strawberry gardens, Nguyen Tho grape vineyard, Thi Tuong lagoon, etc.
According to the Vietnam National Tourism Administration's assessment on April 4-5, the April 30th and May 1st holiday period was a thriving time for the tourism industry, evidenced by the growth in visitor numbers and revenue. The total number of tourists is estimated at 10.5 million, a 31.2% increase compared to the same period in 2024, indicating a high demand for domestic tourism. The average occupancy rate at accommodation establishments nationwide reached approximately 70%.
Ho Chi Minh City welcomed nearly 2 million visitors.
On the afternoon of May 4th, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism announced that during the 5-day holiday period of April 30th and May 1st, Ho Chi Minh City welcomed nearly 2 million visitors, generating a total revenue of 7,138 billion VND, an increase of over 120% compared to the same period last year. If calculated from April 20th to May 4th (15 days), the number of visitors to tourist attractions and entertainment venues in Ho Chi Minh City reached 2.7 million; tourism revenue is estimated at 15,707 billion VND.
According to travel agencies, short-term city tours have increased by 30%-35% compared to the same period last year. Notably, cultural and historical tours with in-depth content, combining practical experiences and local cuisine, have also seen a significant increase, such as "The Imprint of Saigon - Gia Dinh," "50 Years Back," and programs including double-decker bus tours, dinner on a boat, and visits to the Cu Chi Tunnels historical site. Mr. Le Truong Hien Hoa, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, said that the attraction stemmed from the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. Tourists from all over the country flocked to Ho Chi Minh City to watch the parades and visit historical sites.
