In Hanoi, the vibrant festival atmosphere pervades the central streets. On this occasion, many tourists choose to visit historical revolutionary sites, typically the Ho Chi Minh Relic Site at the Presidential Palace, Hoa Lo Prison Relic, Vietnam Military History Museum, etc. During the holiday, these destinations welcome a large number of students and international tourists to learn about history and pay tribute to previous generations.
Thematic exhibitions and explanations have been enhanced, creating a profound and attractive space for traditionaleducation . In particular, during the two peak days of April 30 and May 1, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Management Board coordinated to distribute free drinking water, milk and bread to tens of thousands of people visiting Uncle Ho. During the 5-day holiday, Hanoi is expected to welcome more than 875,000 visitors, an increase of 18.64% over the same period last year.
No less exciting, Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh is a tourist boom destination this holiday. During this holiday, Quang Ninh province welcomed more than 1 million visitors, of which Ha Long City alone accounted for nearly 600,000, with nearly 40,000 international visitors. The island routes of Co To, Van Don, Mong Cai, and Bai Tu Long Bay also welcomed a sudden increase in visitors; crowded beaches, high occupancy rates. Cruise ships on the bay operated at full capacity, with many ships "sold out" since mid-April...
During this period, Hai Phong also welcomed about 780,000 visitors, an increase of nearly 40% compared to the same period last year. The average room occupancy rate of the whole city reached over 80%, with Cat Ba and Do Son being 100% full on peak days.
Sa Pa (Lao Cai) continues to be a symbol of highland tourism when Fansipan peak is covered with the red flag with yellow star, a symbol of national pride. Cat Ba (Hai Phong), Moc Chau (Son La), Tam Dao (Vinh Phuc), Ha Giang... have also become prominent choices, thanks to the cool climate, beautiful nature and increasingly upgraded tourism services.
Sea and island tourism "bumper crop"
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City, the total number of visitors during the holiday reached about 610,000, an increase of more than 50% over the same period in 2024, including 105,000 international visitors. Total revenue from tourism is estimated at VND 2,426 billion. Notable destinations such as Ba Na Hills, Son Tra Peninsula, and Ngu Hanh Son are always crowded with visitors. Room occupancy on peak days reached 100%, even in areas far from the center. Notably, Da Nang welcomed 654 flights during this time, an increase of 12% over normal days, along with a cruise ship carrying more than 2,000 international visitors and more than 18,100 visitors on a cruise on the Han River.
Hue City was equally bustling, welcoming 270,000 visitors, including 54,000 international visitors, with revenue reaching VND590 billion. Attractions included the Hue Imperial City, Thanh Toan tile-roofed bridge, Thuy Xuan incense village, beaches, streams, and waterfalls. Self-guided travel by motorbike and private car continued to be a popular trend. Similarly, Quang Nam province recorded 282,000 visitors, up 21%, including 143,000 international visitors. Hoi An, My Son, and coastal resorts were popular destinations, with 3-5 star hotel room occupancy rates reaching over 90%.
In particular, sea and island tourism destinations became prominent highlights during this occasion. In Quang Ngai, the province welcomed about 231,000 visitors, an increase of 26%, with estimated revenue of VND219 billion. Ly Son Island recorded a room occupancy rate of nearly 100%. Boat racing festivals, country cuisine, and community tourism also attracted a large number of visitors. In Ha Tinh, Thien Cam beach resort welcomed more than 90,000 visitors, an increase of 10-15%, with estimated revenue of more than VND80 billion... Meanwhile, Binh Dinh province recorded nearly 320,000 visitors, with revenue of about VND350 billion. Ky Co - Eo Gio alone welcomed 40,000 visitors, along with new tourism products such as the train tour to explore the land of martial arts or the science tour in Quy Hoa attracting thousands of visitors every day.
In Binh Thuan province, on May 4, Phu Quy Port Management Board said that during the 5-day holiday, 3 high-speed boats operated continuously, making a total of 27 closed trips, transporting more than 13,000 passengers from the mainland to Phu Quy island and vice versa. On average, each day, the number of passengers entering and leaving the port reached over 2,600 passengers. Meanwhile, in Khanh Hoa province, the locality welcomed more than 1 million visitors and vacationers with total tourism revenue of over 1,377 billion VND. Sunny weather, increased flights by air and rail, and a smooth highway system... created favorable conditions for tourists to come to Khanh Hoa.
Meanwhile, information from the Vung Tau City Tourist Management and Support Center (Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) said that on the occasion of April 30 and May 1, tourist areas in the area welcomed and served about 366,000 visitors, an increase of nearly 25% over the same period last year.
This year's holiday, part of the Thuy Van (Back Beach) road renovation project was put into service, partly meeting the entertainment needs of residents and tourists when coming to Vung Tau City. The province also organized many special festivals, cultural, artistic and sports programs, attracting a large number of tourists, especially young groups. The holiday took place safely, the water rescue team promptly rescued 8 cases of drowning, swept away by waves while swimming in the sea; supported the search and handover of 17 lost children to their families; reminded and dispersed 132 groups of tourists eating and drinking on the beach.
According to the Department of Tourism of Kien Giang province, from April 30 to May 4, the whole province is estimated to welcome 323,754 visitors, an increase of 18.8% over the same period last year. Of which, international visitors reached 28,556 (up 19.4%), domestic visitors reached 295,198 (up 18.7%). Total revenue from tourism is estimated at 986.4 billion VND, a sharp increase of 67.2%.
During the 5-day holiday of April 30 and May 1, Ca Mau province welcomed over 239,300 visitors, an increase of nearly 13% compared to the holiday in 2024. Total tourism revenue reached 235 billion VND, an increase of over 41% compared to the same period. Some tourist areas and spots that attracted a large number of visitors include: Mui Ca Mau tourist area, Hon Da Bac tourist area, community tourism households in Dat Mui, Tu Su stork garden, U Minh strawberry gardens, Nguyen Tho grape garden, Thi Tuong lagoon...
On May 4, according to the assessment of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the April 30 and May 1 holidays were a period of prosperity for the tourism industry, reflected in the growth in the number of visitors and revenue. The total number of tourists is estimated at 10.5 million, an increase of 31.2% over the same period in 2024, showing a high demand for domestic tourism. The average room occupancy rate at accommodation establishments reached about 70% nationwide.
Ho Chi Minh City welcomes nearly 2 million visitors
On the afternoon of May 4, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism announced that during the 5-day holiday of April 30 and May 1, Ho Chi Minh City welcomed nearly 2 million visitors with a total revenue of VND7,138 billion, an increase of more than 120% over the same period. If calculated from April 20 to May 4 (15 days), visitors to tourist and entertainment spots... in Ho Chi Minh City reached 2.7 million; tourism revenue is estimated at VND15,707 billion.
According to travel agencies, short-term and inner-city tours increased by 30%-35% compared to the same period. Notably, cultural and historical tours with in-depth content combining practical experiences and local cuisine also increased significantly, such as "Saigon - Gia Dinh Imprint", "50 Years Back"; double-decker bus tours, dinner on the train, visiting the Cu Chi Tunnels Historical Site... Mr. Le Truong Hien Hoa, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, said that the attraction from the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification was huge. Tourists from all over the country gathered in Ho Chi Minh City to watch parades, marches, and visit "red addresses"...
