When they arrived in Hue, Leonora Rojas Bracho and Juan Carlos Moreno Brid, two tourists from Mexico, were looking forward to admiring the poetic beauty of the city and were eager for a very special travel experience: a Net Zero journey, where all activities are oriented towards sustainability and environmental protection. Neither of them had ever participated in a trip like this before, which made them even more curious.

The day began with a tram ride that took the group out of the city center. There was no loud engine noise, no smell of gasoline fumes, just the hum of conversation and the general excitement. Each person was given a glass water bottle and a reusable cloth bag, instead of the single-use plastic items commonly found on other tours.

“From the very first minutes, I felt the difference of this journey. The small but delicate details made me realize that I was about to have a very memorable experience,” said Ms. Leonora Rojas Bracho.

The first stop of the journey was Thuy Bieu eco-village. Here, Leonora and Juan Carlos took part in a traditional incense-making class. “I never thought that something as simple as incense could carry a whole story about culture and connection with nature. All ingredients come from local plants, no chemicals, nothing wasted,” Juan Carlos excitedly recounted.

Afterwards, the group moved down to the river to experience SUP paddling. The special thing is that this is not simply a recreational activity, each person carries a small net to scoop up trash on the water surface. At first, Leonora was a bit confused, but after a few minutes, she joined in naturally.

“I never thought that picking up small pieces of trash from the river could be so meaningful. It made me think about what we can do every day to reduce our impact on the environment,” Leonora shared.

According to Ms. Ngo Hoang Nguyen Anh - Director of iVietnam Travel, the organizer of "A Net Zero Travel Day in Hue", this project was born from the desire to change the way people think about tourism.

“Every trip leaves a carbon footprint. What we want to do is to minimize that footprint as much as possible, so that visitors can not only enjoy the beauty of the destination but also contribute to the sustainable development of that place,” said Ms. Nguyen Anh.

At the end of the day, when returning to the city, ending the new and impressive tour, Juan Carlos shared: "At first, I thought this was just another tour like any other. But in fact, it has changed the way I look at travel. I will definitely share this story with my friends and hope more people will join trips like this."

The “One Day Net Zero Tour in Hue” not only provided memorable experiences, but also opened up a new perspective on how we can travel while protecting the environment. For Leonora and Juan Carlos, this was not just a day in Hue, but also a journey of changing awareness – a journey they will carry with them on their future trips.
