On March 18th, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province announced that starting from March 15th, there will be four commercial flights per week connecting Nha Trang and Phu Quoc, two major tourist centers of Vietnam.

Connecting popular destinations

Expanding air connectivity, especially between major coastal tourist centers, is creating a significant impetus to attract domestic and international tourists to Nha Trang in 2026 and beyond.

One of the positive signs for the local tourism industry is the continuous opening of new routes by airlines. Recently, Sun PhuQuoc Airways officially launched direct flights connecting Phu Quoc with Nha Trang and Da Nang . Among these, the Phu Quoc - Cam Ranh route is considered one of the most promising tourist routes, directly connecting two famous seaside resort centers in Vietnam.

According to statistics for 2025, Khanh Hoa province is expected to welcome approximately 16.4 million tourists, an increase of over 14% compared to 2024, including 5.5 million international visitors. Cam Ranh International Airport continues to play a crucial role in serving the majority of visitors to the province. Flights between Cam Ranh and Phu Quoc, and vice versa, have a flight time of just over one hour. Previously, to travel between these two destinations, many tourists had to take connecting flights through Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi, which was time-consuming and costly. Establishing a direct flight route shortens the journey, creating favorable conditions for tourists who want to vacation in these two major tourist centers.

Mr. Cung Quynh Anh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province, said that on the opening day, flights on the new route achieved high occupancy rates. This shows that the demand for travel and tourism between the localities is very high. Many travel businesses have also quickly developed tour packages combining these destinations to exploit the advantages of the new flight route. "Not only does it connect domestic tourism needs, but this flight route is also an opportunity to attract a large number of international tourists from the two tourism centers. International tourists will easily have more choices and discover the wonderful lands of our country," Mr. Anh commented.

According to Mr. Anh, the international flight network to Khanh Hoa is currently being restored and expanded. In the near future, Belarus will officially open a direct flight route to Khanh Hoa. In addition, direct flights from South Korea, Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, etc., have also increased significantly recently.

In addition, cruise tourism is also developing strongly. From the beginning of 2026 to the present, Khanh Hoa has welcomed 21 international cruise ships with more than 37,300 tourists. It is expected that the locality will continue to welcome another 27 ships this year.

Strengthening tour route linkages

In addition to expanding air routes, Khanh Hoa is also actively promoting linkages to develop inter-regional tours. Many travel businesses have developed tourism programs connecting Nha Trang with popular destinations such as Da Lat, Phu Quoc, and Da Nang.

Mr. Nguyen Phi Hong Nguyen, Business Director of Viet Promotion Tourism and Service Co., Ltd. and Vice President of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Travel Association, said that after the launch of the Nha Trang - Phu Quoc flight route, the company has developed new tours. "These multi-destination tours allow tourists to experience many different types of tourism in a single trip – from beach and island resorts, nature exploration to cultural and culinary tourism. This is considered an important direction to help extend tourists' length of stay and increase spending on tourism services," Mr. Nguyen said.

In addition to traditional tours, many businesses are developing new tourism products such as golf tourism, luxury resort tourism, wellness tourism, and MICE tourism (tourism combined with conferences and seminars). With its mild climate, beautiful beaches, and high-end resort system, Khanh Hoa is considered a suitable destination for developing these product lines.

Mr. Nguyen Quang Thang, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Khanh Hoa Tourism Association, believes that opening more direct flights along with diversifying tourism products will help Khanh Hoa enhance its competitiveness. This is key to attracting more tourists and boosting economic growth.

We receive 70 international flights every day.

In 2026, Khanh Hoa province aims to welcome approximately 18-19 million tourists, with international visitors continuing to account for a large proportion. Cam Ranh International Airport reports that it currently handles an average of 70 international flights daily. South Korea is the main market, with 11 airlines and approximately 34 takeoffs and landings per day. China is served by 5 airlines, averaging 10 takeoffs and landings per day. Russia maintains around 10 flights per day, while Southeast Asia reaches 8 flights per day. Additionally, approximately 10 charter flights per day contribute to the growth of tourism in Khanh Hoa.
