Tourism development is oriented towards four pillars.
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Cung Quynh Anh, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that Resolution No. 01 of the Provincial Party Committee on double-digit economic growth for the period 2025-2030 identifies tourism and services as one of the four pillars driving development. Khanh Hoa strives to welcome approximately 31.6 million tourists by 2030, including 10.5 million international tourists. The province is orienting tourism development according to four pillars: coastal and island areas, culture, ecology, and smart cities; while simultaneously implementing solutions to diversify products and markets, promote digital transformation, improve planning, infrastructure, and human resources.

At the workshop, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Social Affairs, Ta Van Ha, emphasized that Khanh Hoa plays a central role in Vietnam's marine and island tourism with its unique ecosystem and resources, and the Nha Trang - Khanh Hoa brand has been established internationally. However, the development process still faces many institutional obstacles, overlapping laws in the management of marine and island resources; limitations in decentralization and a lack of mechanisms for new types of tourism. He suggested that the province should proactively propose pilot models, from managing the bay's spatial layout and developing high-end resorts to specialized tourism services such as medical tourism and cruise tourism; focus on developing three strategic areas: Nha Trang - Cam Ranh - Van Phong; and leverage its advantages in infrastructure, marine and island resources, and international brand, aiming to build Khanh Hoa into an international marine and island tourism center. Furthermore, attention should be paid to developing training centers to provide high-quality tourism human resources, acting as a driving force for tourism growth in the South Central region and the entire country; and at the same time, becoming an attractive destination for international tourists and strategic investors.
Experts and researchers have proposed a tourism development strategy focused on diversification, making tourism a new growth pole; perfecting institutions and policies to develop tourism into a key economic sector; promoting Khanh Hoa's role in the national growth pole network; and aiming to elevate it to a leading destination in Southeast Asia. Associate Professor Pham Trung Luong, a member of the National Planning Advisory Expert Group, believes that to become a regional and national tourism center, Khanh Hoa needs a long-term strategic vision, complete planning, synchronous infrastructure investment, restructuring products and markets, strengthening regional linkages, and perfecting mechanisms and policies to enhance competitiveness.
Repositioning Khanh Hoa's image on the world tourism map.
The workshop also included a panel discussion on the topic "Khanh Hoa Tourism After the Merger - A New Growth Pole Driving Double-Digit Growth". Opinions at the panel discussion unanimously agreed that, with its strategic location and diverse tourism resources, Khanh Hoa has a historic opportunity to become a national growth pole and rise to the top group of destinations in Southeast Asia. However, to achieve this goal, tourism development needs to go hand in hand with modern planning, smart management, resource conservation, and improved service quality.

According to Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, Ha Van Sieu, Khanh Hoa needs to focus on important areas such as adjusting tourism planning and building modern tourism infrastructure, especially expanding Cam Ranh airport and constructing a world-class marina, a modern terminal, and a synchronously connected highway system. Based on the unique product range of its bays, Khanh Hoa needs to develop internationally-oriented communication messages such as: "Khanh Hoa - Asia's beach paradise," "International beach resort tourism center - green tourism," or "Beach resort city, festivals, events and innovation"...
From a business perspective, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, Marketing Director of Vinpearl Joint Stock Company, believes that Khanh Hoa's tourism industry is facing fierce competition from other destinations in the region, with increasingly high demands for service quality, experiences, and destination management according to international standards. For Khanh Hoa to become a leading regional destination of international stature, it requires not only effectively exploiting existing potential but also enhancing the destination's genuine competitiveness. This competitiveness is determined by four core pillars: infrastructure, technology, human resources, and green tourism – elements that need to be continuously improved and invested in comprehensively.
In his closing remarks at the workshop, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Long Bien, acknowledged the contributions and suggestions from the experts and speakers. To develop tourism commensurate with its potential, and to realize the goal of making tourism a key economic sector, diversifying and improving the quality of tourism services in the coming time, he requested that departments, localities, and the business community continue to implement tourism development activities in a coordinated manner in accordance with the spirit of Resolution No. 09 of the Politburo on building and developing Khanh Hoa province until 2030, with a vision to 2045; and Resolution No. 01 of the Provincial Party Committee on double-digit economic growth in the period 2025-2030. This includes exploiting potential and advantages to promote tourism recovery and development; attracting large-scale, high-class tourism investment projects, and focusing on unique, distinctive, and differentiated tourism products. Accelerate the implementation of key tourism projects; strengthen the application of information technology in management, operation, and business administration; and promote digital transformation in the tourism sector.
Comrade Nguyen Long Bien - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee : The Khanh Hoa Tourism Association needs to strengthen linkages and cooperation with tourism associations in localities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Lam Dong, Da Nang, Dak Lak, and Gia Lai to promote and develop tourism products; and to jointly exploit tourism tours that attract international tourists from key markets such as Russia, Europe, South Korea, China, India, and Japan. Cam Ranh International Terminal Joint Stock Company, Cam Ranh International Airport, and other tourism service businesses should proactively innovate products, improve service quality; increase the opening of new routes and maintain the frequency of regular international flights to connect Khanh Hoa with major markets; and work alongside the province in promoting and contributing to building the image of Khanh Hoa as a civilized, friendly, and attractive destination.
