Bringing digital technology closer to the people.
Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024, of the Politburo on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation of the nation clearly states: “ The development of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation is a decisive factor in the development of nations; it is a prerequisite and the best opportunity for our country to develop into a prosperous and powerful nation in the new era – the era of national progress.”
In Thai Nguyen, digital transformation is identified as one of the key drivers of socio -economic development. The province has promptly issued a system of guiding documents to comprehensively promote digital transformation across all three pillars: digital government, digital economy, and digital society, with the goal of placing Thai Nguyen among the leading localities nationwide in digital transformation.
Currently, from urban centers to ethnic minority areas, thousands of members of community digital technology groups have become "digital teachers," directly guiding people in accessing and using technology.
The content of the awareness and support focuses on using online public services, VNeID electronic identification, cashless payments, e-commerce, personal data protection, and skills to prevent and combat online fraud.

Change is evident in every family and every neighborhood. Ms. Pham Thi Phuong, a small business owner in Dong Hy district, shared: "Previously, I mainly sold goods directly. Since being guided on selling on social media and using QR code payments, the number of customers has increased significantly. Many transactions are now done directly on the phone, which is both quick and convenient."
In Na May hamlet, Nghinh Tuong commune (Vo Nhai district), Mr. Pham Van Quang said: "Initially, I thought technology was only for young people. But when I was guided on how to use smartphones to look up information, sell agricultural products, and carry out administrative procedures, I realized that technology really brings many benefits."
Not only people in rural areas, but also workers are benefiting from the popularization of digital skills. Many workers in industrial zones throughout the province have learned to use digital platforms to conduct online transactions, access online courses, and identify and avoid online scams.
Laying the foundation for long-term development.
To enhance the digital skills of its citizens, Thai Nguyen province is continuing to promote the "Digital Literacy Movement." The Department of Science and Technology has advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue a plan for training and developing digital skills; and organized training for 2,400 members of community digital technology teams, ensuring that 100% of members are trained and capable of using digital platforms to support people in accessing digital services.

In addition, the province continues to implement the Project on the Development of Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation for the period 2026-2030, creating an important foundation for long-term development.
The results achieved show that the province's policy of bringing digital technology closer to the people is on the right track. According to the plan for implementing the "Digital Literacy Movement," Thai Nguyen aims for 95% of adults to have basic knowledge of digital transformation and be able to use smart devices; over 80% of the population to be certified as having basic digital skills on the VNeID platform; 85% of officials and civil servants to have digital skills; and 100% of high school and university students to be equipped with basic digital skills. These are high targets compared to the rest of the country, demonstrating the province's strong determination in building a digital society.
However, the journey to popularize digital skills still faces many challenges. The digital divide between urban and mountainous areas, and between young and old people, remains. A segment of the population still harbors reservations about technology or lacks access to smart devices.
Meanwhile, cyber scams are becoming increasingly sophisticated, requiring people not only to know how to use technology but also to use it safely and effectively.
It's not just about popularizing digital technology, but also about mastering it.
In the current era, the most important thing is to change perceptions. When people realize that technology helps solve problems faster, more conveniently, and more cost-effectively, they will proactively learn, access, and apply it to their lives.
The goal of digital transformation is not just about people knowing how to use technology, but also about using it proficiently and effectively to exploit digital tools for learning, work, production, and daily life.
Looking ahead, the leaders of the Department of Science and Technology of Thai Nguyen province emphasized that the province will continue to extensively implement the "Digital Literacy for the People" and "AI Learning for the People" movements; promote the role of community digital technology groups; expand the "Digital Family," "Digital Market," and "Digital Rural Area" models; and at the same time strengthen the provision of knowledge and skills to ensure information security for the people.
In the digital age, the competitiveness of each locality is measured not only by infrastructure or investment resources but also by the ability of its people to adapt to technological changes. Therefore, popularizing digital knowledge and skills is the new "eradicating illiteracy" of our time.
When every citizen has the ability to access, master, and effectively utilize digital technology, the process of building a digital government, digital economy, and digital society will truly go deeper, creating momentum for Thai Nguyen's rapid and sustainable development in the coming years.
