(NLĐO) - The education sector must integrate science, technology, and innovation into schools, starting from the smallest activities and the simplest imaginations.
On the afternoon of March 19th, the National Science and Technology Competition for High School Students in the 2024-2025 academic year officially opened at Ton Duc Thang University (Ho Chi Minh City).
The competition, organized by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) in coordination with the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the Department of Education and Training of the city, took place from March 19 to 21.
The delegation of students from Ba Ria - Vung Tau province participated in the competition.
The National Science and Technology Competition for High School Students in the 2024-2025 academic year will see participation from 62 out of 63 Departments of Education and Training and 12 units belonging to universities, colleges, institutes, and research institutes with high schools; and high schools directly under ministries and ministerial-level agencies.
According to Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong, this year's competition has many new features and is taking place in the context of the Politburo having signed and issued Resolution 57 on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation - a resolution likened to "Contract 10" in science and technology.
Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong highly appreciated Ho Chi Minh City's preparation in terms of facilities and conditions for the competition to run smoothly.
“Scientists and experts believe that when Resolution 57 comes into effect, the education sector must integrate science and technology and innovation into schools, starting from the smallest activities and the simplest yet potentially boldest ideas, beginning in secondary schools. This will instill in students – future citizens – the dreams, aspirations, and innovative thinking of a scientist from their time in secondary school,” Mr. Thuong emphasized.
According to Mr. Pham Ngoc Thuong, this year's competition is organized in keeping with that spirit; aiming to make innovation, creativity, science and technology, digital transformation, and gradually making English the second language a breakthrough in educational reform in the coming school years.
Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairperson of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the competition.
Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, said that this is the third time in 13 editions that Ho Chi Minh City has been entrusted with hosting the competition.
