This is one of the volcanoes that was once intensely active in the Central Highlands millions of years ago, hidden deep within the pristine wilderness.
Viewed from above, the mountain resembles a giant funnel, its hollow, round mouth a fertile red color formed by layers of lava over millions of years. Particularly, around the end of October each year, Chu Dang Ya volcano is covered in wild sunflowers around the mountain and throughout the district. With its beautiful natural landscape and fresh climate, this place has the potential to create unique tourism products. If planned and invested in, the development of a cultural tourism village would bring significant development to the region.
In 2020, the photograph "Chu Dang Ya" by photographer Hoa Carol - Nguyen Ngoc Hoa (born 1981, residing in Pleiku City) was submitted to the Landscape 2020 photography contest. Out of 14,739 entries, the pristine volcano in Chu Pah was selected by the organizers as one of the top 50 most beautiful photos.
The photograph shows the viewer a volcano that has been dormant for millions of years, creating a dreamy landscape, a pristine and peaceful environment amidst the high plateau. The volcano also depicts a trace of the Earth's surface formation.

And from these photos, people can feel and discover Gia Lai.” According to the photographer, the development of social media and the sharing of information by people has made promoting local tourism much easier.
According to the People's Committee of Chư Păh district, the district possesses numerous tourism resources that are currently only in a "potential" state, with the local advantages yet to be fully exploited. For example: Chư Đăng Ya volcano, a unique, pristine volcano in the northern Central Highlands; the cluster of scenic tea hills, centuries-old pine trees, and Bửu Minh pagoda; the Ia Ly hydroelectric power plant; and visitors can also enjoy the view of Chư Nâm peak, where clouds drift across the high plateau... Along with these are unique cultural festivals and rich cuisine , making visitors even more satisfied with each visit.
