In the early days of 2026, the atmosphere in Tinh Thuy residential area, Quang Phu ward, was more bustling than usual, as residents were urgently signing contracts with the clean water supply service provider.
Looking at the clear water flowing from the pipe into the bucket, Mrs. Tran Thi Ngu (62 years old, Tinh Thuy residential area) couldn't hide her joy: "From now on, with clean water, my family feels more at ease and no longer worries about the well water being contaminated with alum like before."
Having clean water delivered directly to their homes has long been a dream not only for Mr. Nguyen Duc Vu's family but also for hundreds of households in Tinh Thuy fishing village. Upon hearing the local announcement, Mr. Vu proactively purchased the necessary tools and equipment to connect the pipeline to his house. "Before, we had to buy bottled water for cooking because the well water was unusable due to high levels of iron contamination. Now that we have clean water, we feel more secure in our daily lives," Mr. Vu shared.
According to Mr. Huynh Van Yen, head of the Tinh Thuy residential group, previously, 450 households used water from drilled wells. However, since 2012, the groundwater here has been contaminated with alum and salt, making it unusable. For more than 10 years, residents have had to filter water manually, or even buy bottled water for cooking and drinking every day.
Mr. Yen said: “During meetings with National Assembly and People's Council representatives at all levels, local voters repeatedly expressed their desire to have the clean water system put into operation soon. Now, with the implementation of the two-tiered local government model, functional agencies have prioritized resolving long-standing issues, and as a result, the clean water system has been put into operation to serve the people in the early part of 2026.”
According to the People's Committee of Quang Phu Ward , clean water is one of the important criteria for ensuring social welfare, so the ward proactively conducted a field survey, assigned the Ward's Public Service Supply Center to take over the project, and coordinated with relevant units to develop an operational plan.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Yen, Director of the Public Service Supply Center of Quang Phu Ward, said that the Tam Thanh clean water supply system project was implemented in 2024 with the People's Committee of Tam Ky City (formerly) as the investor and the construction and installation unit being Phu Ninh Water Plant BOO Joint Stock Company, with a total cost of nearly 5 billion VND, a pipeline length of about 15km, and a designed capacity of 1,000 - 1,200 m³/day. However, after completion, the project had to be temporarily suspended due to insufficient operational resources.
After taking on the task, Quang Phu ward coordinated with Phu Ninh Water Plant BOO Joint Stock Company to develop a water purchase and sale plan, complete legal procedures, and mobilize residents to agree to connect to the water supply. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of all parties, the project was put into operation on January 1, 2026.
“Bringing clean water to Thuy Province is a timely initiative, clearly demonstrating the spirit of serving the people, being close to the people, and being responsive to the people's needs of the Quang Phu ward government. This is not only the result of an infrastructure project, but also proof of the positive transformation in management and administration under the new government model,” Mr. Nguyen Thanh Yen affirmed.
