Bringing agarwood to the open sea.

Anyone who has met Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen Trang will find it hard to forget the image of a quick-witted and enthusiastic female director in her 20s.

Through perseverance and passion, she gradually built and developed the Tam Thien Huong agarwood brand, bringing its agarwood products to OCOP 4-star certification. Her journey of "lifting the wings" of agarwood not only contributes to promoting a very special local product but also serves as an inspiration for young entrepreneurs.

I got into this profession thanks to my husband's passion.

In the tranquil, incense-scented space of a small workshop nestled in the heart of Thanh Sen ward ( Ha Tinh province ), Ms. Huyen Trang watches the skillful hands of the "artisans" meticulously separating each agarwood fiber to create agarwood products.

Huyen Trang shared that her entry into the agarwood production business was both coincidental and fortunate. Her husband works in the forestry industry and is particularly passionate about researching agarwood. Living for a long time in an environment subtly scented with agarwood sparked her curiosity and interest. She began to learn about this special tree, and her love for it grew.

Another fortunate circumstance that helped Huyen Trang realize her dream of opening an agarwood business was that her father-in-law owned an agarwood plantation over 30 years old. This was a crucial source of raw materials that helped her start her business, bringing the famous agarwood products of the former Huong Khe district to many parts of the country.

Many years ago, despite living in the agarwood capital, many people in Huong Khe district (Ha Tinh province) were unaware of its great value. A wave of agarwood purchases by traders gradually brought the people of Huong Khe to light. They stopped cutting down agarwood trees for construction and instead utilized vacant land to cultivate seedlings and plant new trees. In the last 10 years, many agarwood processing and production facilities have sprung up, but promotion remains limited.

"Ha Tinh is a locality with a large source of agarwood raw materials, but in previous years, brand promotion was not up to par. Because of my passion and desire for the special product of my hometown to be widely known, I boldly established a company and invested in a factory and machinery to produce products under the Tam Thien Huong Ha Tinh agarwood brand," said Ms. Huyen Trang.

Bringing Ha Tinh agarwood to a wider audience.

In 2021, Huyen Trang established a facility, purchased equipment and machinery, recruited workers, and launched its first products, including incense sticks and incense cones, onto the market. In the same year, Linh Trang Trading and Service Company Limited registered to participate in the OCOP Program with these two products and achieved OCOP 4-star certification.

Huyen Trang said that in the early days of her entrepreneurial journey, she was fortunate to participate in many training programs organized by the Provincial Women's Union and the Ha Tinh Provincial Youth Union. It was through these training sessions that her incubation projects became known to many people.

With the aim of promoting agarwood products and helping local people increase their income through agarwood cultivation, Huyen Trang's facility purchases more than 200 agarwood trees and about 2 tons of raw materials from local people each year for production. At the same time, the company is also creating jobs for 12 local workers.

Huyen Trang's entrepreneurial journey in the agarwood production business has not only helped her expand her market and create jobs for many people, but she has also been recognized with first prize in the provincial creative startup competition in 2024, second prize in the national women's entrepreneurship and innovation competition on green transformation in 2024, and the potential award in the Northern region's green startup competition in 2025.

"I think that to achieve the initial success we have today, besides luck, entrepreneurs need perseverance and dedication to their goals. Personally, I feel very happy to be fulfilling my dream in my husband's hometown, helping farmers increase their income and restoring the true value of agarwood," said Huyen Trang.
