Ukraine ordered this batch of drones from the artificial intelligence company Helsing in September. Payment was made through a German government fund.
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius also confirmed the transfer and said he was pleased that it was happening at a time when it was truly needed for Ukraine.

This UAV is called "Taurus mini" - a long-range missile that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz once refused to supply to Ukraine. These devices are controlled by AI and can overcome Russian GPS jamming capabilities.
This type of UAV is said to have a higher success rate in hitting its target than manually controlled combat drones, while its range is four times greater than that of conventional kamikaze drones used by the Ukrainian military.
At the same time, the administration of President Joe Biden also allowed Ukraine to use US-made weapons to strike deep into Russian territory, a significant reversal of Washington's policy in the Ukraine-Russia conflict.
Ukraine plans to carry out its first deep strikes in the coming days using ATACMS missiles with a range of up to 306 km, but has not disclosed details.
This move comes two months before President-elect Donald Trump takes office on January 20, 2025, and after months of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky calling on the U.S. to allow his military to use American weapons to attack military targets within Russian territory.
The Biden administration's decision to reverse policy comes as Kyiv is in a weak position, with Russia intensifying its counterattack in Kursk and continuing to make advances on the eastern Ukrainian front.
Responding to this move by the US, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the information that US President Joe Biden authorized Ukraine to use long-range missiles to attack Russian territory was a dangerous signal, and emphasized that this move could escalate the conflict.
