The booming AI era has given rise to a new and increasingly sophisticated form of fraud - micro-technology devices that integrate AI.

On June 8, a Turkish student was arrested for cheating on a university entrance exam, according to Reuters . The candidate used an AI-integrated device that could automatically answer questions quickly.
The Isparta Police Department (Turkey) also released a video , in which a police officer exposed the trick of using this sophisticated device. The police only need to scan the question with a super small camera disguised as a shirt button, the image is immediately transmitted to the AI software via a router (router or router) hidden inside the shoe sole. The AI software gives the answer, reads back the correct answer through the super small earphone.
The cheating candidate has been detained and is awaiting trial. Turkish police have also arrested a suspect who assisted the candidate.

"Worse than cheating"
In Japan, on May 15, police transferred the case to prosecutors to prepare to prosecute an 18-year-old candidate accused of using high-tech glasses to cheat on the entrance exam to Waseda University (Tokyo, Japan).
During the exam in February, candidates used smart glasses equipped with cameras to take photos of the questions.
Before the exam, candidates go online to recruit “online tutors”. The tutors’ job is to immediately answer questions candidates send them via social network X (formerly Twitter).
Each “online tutor” was promised a few thousand yen in compensation, unaware that they were helping students cheat. A user of social network X (who answered questions to help students cheat) became suspicious and contacted Waseda University to report the matter.
After the cheating was exposed, the candidate expressed regret and admitted that his actions were "worse than cheating". This candidate said that he cheated because he was afraid of failing the university entrance exam.

Using AI to fight exam cheating
Strengthening supervision and disseminating exam regulations are measures applied by many countries before major exams to prevent cheating. China in particular has applied many strong measures in the 2024 exam.
According to the South China Morning Post , many provinces in China announced that they will use AI-integrated surveillance cameras during the university entrance exam (June 7-10). Surveillance cameras will be installed on the exam site campus and inside the exam room.
AI has been pre-trained to identify suspicious behaviors in the exam room such as: turning the head, bending down to pick up items, and communication between invigilators and students...

In addition, at exam sites, metal detectors are used to prevent candidates from sneaking phones into the exam room.
In recent years, Chinese police have also deployed radio and mobile jammers around exam sites. Many schools have installed facial recognition systems to prevent siblings or friends from taking the exam for students.
Just ahead of the college entrance exams, China's Supreme People's Court released data on exam cheating since the revised Criminal Code took effect in 2015.
Specifically, from November 2015 to April 2024, more than 11,000 people were punished for organizing cheating, selling exam answers or taking exams for others, including 5 cases of individuals being prosecuted. In these 5 cases, 1 teacher was sentenced to 4 years in prison for organizing a cheating ring in the 2020 university entrance exam.
China's Supreme People's Court stressed that the release of the data was aimed at demonstrating efforts to fight against "those who disrupt exam order and undermine fairness".
In Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just directed relevant agencies to proactively prevent, detect and handle acts of using high-tech devices to cheat in the upcoming high school graduation exam.
Representatives of the Ministry of Public Security also warned of the risk of candidates using AI cheating devices attached to the soles of their shoes to film exam questions.
In June 2023, right before the high school graduation exam, Lam Dong Provincial Police coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security to dismantle two rings that traded in microscopic devices for cheating on exams such as headphones and cameras.
