Don't hurt the children!

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - When I was in middle school, my daughter was depressed for a whole week and refused to go to class. She went to the same school and shared many teachers with her brother. She was happy about that, but also partly sad about it.

Don't hurt the children!

The source of the problem was that I was assigned to be the group leader to present an essay. I tried very hard, but did not receive cooperation from the group members. The presentation that I was the group leader did not turn out well. When the teacher gave feedback to help my group complete it, whether intentionally or unintentionally, he commented that my thinking and methods were far inferior to my brother's, making it difficult for me to get into a specialized school. I tried very hard, but was not recognized, and in the end, I was compared. Some classmates also "relying on" the teacher to tease me, causing me to be hurt. I chose a very negative way of being silent and withdrawing.

At the age of personality formation, children are often influenced by adults. In the school environment, teachers are considered as "gods" of children. Every word of teachers has an influence on students. Teachers' comments can be timely encouragement, but sometimes they can cause negative psychology for children. My family had to spend a lot of effort with mental therapy to regain balance and strengthen my child's psychology.

Discipline in schools is very important so that students do not cross the line. However, in implementing disciplinary measures in schools, we must always uphold "virtue", requiring teachers to not only teach knowledge but also bring tolerance, generosity, and know how to inspire and nurture children's souls. Children need to hear words of encouragement and motivation along with appropriate, appropriate and timely criticism. I am not the only one who hopes that these positive things will become more and more common in theeducational environment.

But in recent days, public opinion has become “hotter”, from the story of a high school principal in Dak Lak telling one of his 12th grade students, “Even if you take the exam, you won’t pass.” And recently, during the 10th grade entrance exam, a supervisor in charge of the exam in Nghe An told a candidate, “Why study so much, you’ll just have to work for hire, or become a factory worker.” Those are very reprehensible words!

Even if it is true, it is not allowed to say things that hurt children's souls. Studying and taking exams are students' rights, we must respect and encourage that. Such hurtful words, no matter how they are justified, are unacceptable and need to be corrected.
