Earlier, on October 16th, due to the high water level and strong current of the Red River, Brigade 249 was forced to dismantle the Phong Chau pontoon bridge to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment.

The operation of the pontoon bridge across the Red River, following the collapse of the Phong Chau bridge, depends heavily on the river's flow.

According to Brigade 249, the pontoon bridge is only safe when the water flow rate is below 2 meters per second. When the water flow rate exceeds this parameter, the bridge must be urgently dismantled to ensure the safety of people and vehicles crossing the bridge, as well as the safety of the pontoon bridge's equipment.
