Recognizing that rural transportation development plays a crucial role in socio-economic development and directly contributes to achieving the targets and criteria of the new rural development program, relevant levels and sectors have continued to implement many specific solutions in a coordinated manner since the beginning of 2026.
Mr. Duong Cong Vi, Director of the Department of Construction, said: From the beginning of the year, the unit has urged communes and wards to organize campaigns to build rural roads in conjunction with the socio-economic development targets for 2026 and the new rural development program; and has urged and coordinated with the People's Committees of communes to effectively implement the Rural Transport Development Project for the period 2026 - 2030.
According to the National Criteria for New Rural Development for the period 2026-2030 (Decision No. 51/2025/QD-TTg dated December 29, 2025, of the Prime Minister ), the content regarding transportation development falls under the socio-economic infrastructure criteria. A commune meeting this criterion must have a rural road system that ensures connectivity and is maintained annually; the percentage of commune roads meeting planning standards must reach 100%; the percentage of commune roads with trees planted along the route must reach 50% or more; and village, hamlet, and neighborhood roads must be paved, ensuring the required percentage for each group of communes. |
At the same time, the Department of Construction advised on the issuance of guiding documents for the implementation of the project; advised the Provincial People's Committee to approve the list and detailed allocation of funding to support the project for rural bridge and road construction projects to be implemented in 2026; coordinated with relevant units to allocate funds to communes where rural transport projects are located to ensure implementation according to the set plan…
Besides the attention from departments and agencies, the People's Committees of communes and wards have also proactively begun implementing the work. Mr. Dinh Manh Khiem, Head of the Economic Department of Na Sam commune, said: From the beginning of 2026 until now, the People's Committee of the commune has directed relevant units to strengthen propaganda and mobilization efforts to encourage the joint efforts of the people to build roads. Specifically, in addition to the State's cement support, people contributed more than 76 million VND to buy materials and 456 man-days of labor, thereby building more than 1,000 meters of concrete road and constructing two 35-meter-long pedestrian bridges. In addition, from public investment capital, the commune is currently implementing the construction of over 3.5 km of concrete roads.
Similar to Na Sam commune, people in Huu Lung commune are also actively contributing to road construction. Mr. Vo Viet Cuong, Party Secretary and Head of Na Dau village, Huu Lung commune, said: From the beginning of 2026 until now, people in the village have contributed 450 million VND and donated about 300 square meters of land, thereby constructing 700 meters of new concrete road, 3.5 meters wide.
Not only in Na Dau village, but also in several other villages in Huu Lung commune, people have actively joined hands to build roads. Specifically, from the beginning of 2026 to the present, people in the commune have contributed over 2 billion VND, donated land, and contributed labor, thereby building 2 km of new concrete roads; repairing, maintaining, and cleaning 100% of the village roads.
Along with the two aforementioned communes, the development of rural transportation in other communes and wards throughout the province has also achieved positive results. Specifically, from the beginning of 2026 to the present, the entire province has concreted over 78 km of rural roads; repaired over 800 km of roads; and repaired 109 km of drainage ditches… (of which the state provided 8,234 tons of cement; people contributed over 162,000 man-hours of labor, as well as contributed money, donated land, and assets on the land to jointly build roads).
The achievements in rural transportation development from the beginning of 2026 to the present will create important momentum for the province to strive to concrete over 100 km of commune-level main roads, 100 km of village and hamlet roads, and 26 rural bridges in 2026. This will significantly contribute to strengthening transportation infrastructure, creating favorable conditions for people's lives and production development, and directly contributing to the completion of targets and criteria for building new rural areas in the province.
