The Italian national team has announced its preliminary 30-player squad for EURO 2024. Coach Luciano Spalletti will drop four players before officially beginning their journey to defend their title in Germany.

The Italian national team has changed significantly since winning EURO 2020. The core players who helped Italy reach the top of Europe are now reduced to goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, defender Giovanni Di Lorenzo, midfielders Jorginho and Nicolo Barella, and forward Federico Chiesa.

If we include the reserve players from EURO 2020, the European champions featured in the current Italian national team squad also include Alex Meret, Francesco Acerbi, Alessandro Bastoni, Bryan Cristante, and Giacomo Raspadori.

Coach Luciano Spalletti showed his firm stance by dropping three famous Italian national team stars: Ciro Immobile, Manuel Locatelli, and Marco Verratti. In addition, Nicolo Zaniolo is injured and Sandro Tonali is suspended for gambling.

Among the new additions to the Italian national team, striker Gianluca Scamacca and center-back Giorgio Scalvini are the two most prominent figures, having recently helped Atalanta win the Europa League 2023/2024.

According to the EURO 2024 schedule, the Italian national team will play against Albania at 2:00 AM on June 16th. After that, Luciano Spalletti's team will face Spain at 2:00 AM on June 21st and Croatia at 2:00 AM on June 25th.

To prepare for the tournament, the Italian national team will play friendly matches against Turkey at 2:00 AM on June 5th and Bosnia & Herzegovina at 1:45 AM on June 10th.
