“Everyone knows Bukit Jalil is a very formidable stadium, with incredibly passionate fans. Being targeted by lasers is a possibility, but we have prepared mentally and focused on the psychological aspect. Playing away from home always demands courage, especially in a tense match like this,” said captain Do Duy Manh, speaking about Bukit Jalil Stadium – the venue for Vietnam's match against Malaysia in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
On the morning of June 6th, the Vietnamese national team departed for Malaysia to prepare for their official match against the home team. Having played at Bukit Jalil Stadium before, Duy Manh understands the intensity and pressure from the stands. However, the entire team has prepared both mentally and professionally ahead of the match.
“The 2018 AFF Cup final is an unforgettable memory. We understand the intensity and pressure there, but the experience from 2018 will help us prepare better in terms of climate, weather, and fighting spirit. Everyone is united and wants to win against Malaysia. This is one of the most important matches for the Vietnamese national team in 2025, and we understand that,” Duy Manh continued.

The player born in 1996 further shared that despite some unfortunate injuries in the Vietnamese national team, the whole team did not lose focus. The coaching staff also had plans to deal with the opponent, especially the naturalized players in the Malaysian squad.
“The research on our opponents started quite early. The coaching staff has full information, technical statistics, and video analysis of their players. When we go to Malaysia, the coaches will certainly continue to observe them more closely to come up with a suitable plan. Southeast Asian football now has a naturalization policy for every team, and we have to adapt to that. But no matter who the opponent is, we will fight with all our might,” Duy Manh concluded.
In Malaysia, the Vietnamese national team has four days to prepare for the official match. The goal for coach Kim Sang-sik and his team is to secure all three points at the Bukit Jalil Stadium.
