Recently, a future-shaping dialogue took place at Tesla's Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, featuring billionaire Elon Musk, "Moonshots" founder Peter Diamandis, and entrepreneur David Blundin.

At the tech giant's headquarters, Elon Musk made shocking statements about the year 2026. According to him, the world has truly entered a "technological singularity"—a point where artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics develop at the speed of a "supersonic tsunami," irreversible and soon far exceeding human control capabilities.

AI and robotics are unstoppable.

Elon Musk bluntly stated: "Artificial intelligence and robotics are a 'supersonic tsunami,' and we are at a technological singularity."

Amidst debates about the timing of the emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AGI), Musk offered a specific prediction: "AGI will become a reality by 2026." According to this vision, by 2030, AI capabilities will officially surpass the combined intelligence of all humanity.

According to him, this is not simply a technological advancement based on inheritance, but rather a transfer at the species level. Musk once likened humans to a "biological bootloader" for digital superintelligence.

This implies that the entirety of human civilization's achievements may only serve as a stepping stone to the creation of a new digital civilization, far beyond human comprehension.

AGI stands for Advanced General Intelligence, an AI capable of learning, thinking, and performing any intellectual task like a human. Unlike current AI, which is only good at one specific task, AGI possesses multi-faceted intelligence, capable of independently solving complex problems and demonstrating flexibility in all fields. Upon reaching AGI, machines will officially possess intelligence equivalent to and soon surpass that of the human brain.

The timing of achieving AGI has been a subject of intense debate between two opposing viewpoints. On one side are optimists like Elon Musk and Sam Altman (CEO of OpenAI), who believe AGI will appear as early as 2025-2027 thanks to the explosion of computing power. Conversely, many leading scientists like Yann LeCun are skeptical, arguing that this milestone may still be decades away.

Economically , he believes that when labor and intellectual costs are drastically reduced, the world will enter an era of "super-surplus." Goods and services will then be priced at unprecedentedly low levels, approaching the cost of raw materials and energy.

"People can own anything they want," Musk shared. However, he also cautiously warned about the transitional period of the next 3-7 years. This will be a "bumpy" time when society faces upheaval and instability alongside extreme prosperity.

The Great Pandemic

If 2026 is considered the birth milestone of AGI, then the following 3-7 years will be a period of transition that Musk considers the most turbulent ever. This wave of upheaval will directly impact the intellectual class – considered the backbone of modern society.

The billionaire pointed out that all tasks performed via keyboard and mouse become inferior to artificial intelligence.

"Office workers will be the first to be replaced. Except for jobs that directly involve physical objects, AI can now handle more than half of the current workload," Elon Musk stated.

This shift creates intense survival pressure in the marketplace: businesses operating purely on AI will easily crush traditional competitors in an unequal race.

To alleviate fears of mass unemployment, Musk proposed the concept of "Universal High Income" (UHI) instead of the traditional "Universal Basic Income" (UBI). He believes that when labor costs are eliminated, product prices will plummet to rock bottom – equivalent to the cost of raw materials and electricity. At that point, humanity will enter an era of abundance, where all material needs are met to the fullest extent.

However, the billionaire also frankly pointed out the downside of this scenario: extreme prosperity would be accompanied by unprecedented social instability. Musk worries about a "value vacuum" where people are no longer challenged and do not need to prove their abilities through labor.

Unless a new vision of the meaning of life is soon formulated, humanity could fall into an existential crisis and collapse within its own prosperity.
