According to Neowin , Epic Games continues to expand its reach in the gaming industry. The company behind the popular free-to-play game Fortnite has just announced the acquisition of Brazilian developer AQUIRIS.
According to the press release about the deal, Epic had previously invested in AQUIRIS around early 2022. Now, the studio has been fully acquired by Epic and renamed Epic Games Brazil. The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed by either party.
Epic Games buys more studios to develop Fortnite.
Prior to its merger with Epic Games, AQUIRIS was known as the mobile game studio behind Wonderbox for iOS users, along with titles such as Horizon Chase and Looney Tunes World of Mayhem . Epic Games stated that those games will continue to be supported in the future. Epic Games Brazil will take on the responsibility of supporting the creation of new content for Fortnite.
Epic Games has acquired several game development companies over the past few years. Some of these were previously companies that created game development tools like RAD Game Tools and SuperAwesome. The company has also acquired game development studios such as Mediatonic, which created Fall Guys , and Psyonix, the studio behind Rocket League .
