On the evening of June 12th, many users in Vietnam were simultaneously unable to access Facebook and Facebook Messenger. This disruption wasn't limited to Vietnam; users in many other countries in the region, such as Thailand and the Philippines , as well as in the US and the UK, reported similar communication disruptions.
According to DownDetector, the Vietnamese version of the online incident tracking site, the number of Facebook error reports surged around 8:45 PM, exceeding 2,000 reports in just a few minutes. Meanwhile, the international version of the tool also saw an unusual increase, with over 120,000 reports globally.
Due to the surge in simultaneous users attempting to check, even DownDetector and some of the bug tracking systems experienced local network congestion.
Around 9:30 PM, many people started accessing Facebook and Messenger again. By midnight on June 13th, there were almost no more errors related to Meta's platforms.
