In the early hours of November 21st, the official FIFA fanpage deleted the 2026 World Cup poster that didn't feature Cristiano Ronaldo and posted a new one with CR7 at the top to please fans of the Portuguese captain.

However, accompanying the images of Ronaldo are moments that evoke painful memories for Portugal at the 2022 World Cup, including Osman Bukari's (Ghana) Siu celebration after scoring against Portugal, En-Nesyri's header to help Morocco eliminate Portugal from the World Cup, and the image of the South Korean players celebrating after their 2-1 victory against Ronaldo's team.
In the center of the poster is an image of Lionel Messi, the captain of the Argentine national team, lifting the World Cup trophy with a radiant smile.
"FIFA definitely has a grudge against Ronaldo," one fan commented. "Ronaldo would never have won the World Cup if Infantino were still in charge," a second said. "A way to mock CR7," a third fan added.
Regarding CR7 personally, he revealed that the 2026 World Cup will be his last time participating in the tournament. However, Ronaldo affirmed that his legacy does not depend on whether or not he wins the World Cup.
