Foden is having a tough time off the pitch. The Manchester City star has asked his lawyers to intervene after a series of malicious rumours emerged on social media claiming that his six-year-old son had died and his four-year-old daughter had cancer.

These posts were created by anonymous accounts using AI-generated images depicting Foden and his girlfriend Rebecca Cooke in tears. The fake news spread quickly on Facebook and X, causing Foden's name to trend, forcing him to take action to protect his family.

Rebecca, 24, spoke out on social media after receiving dozens of messages asking her how she was feeling. “These stories are disgusting and completely fabricated. I don’t understand how anyone could make something like this up, especially about a child,” she wrote.

It all started when an account posted that Foden’s son Ronnie had died, followed by another post claiming that his daughter True had cancer, complete with a fake “confession” from the player himself. Both posts were shared thousands of times before being taken down.

Foden and Rebecca confirmed that their children are healthy and have filed a petition asking the platforms to remove the false content. “Thank you for your concern. Our family is fine and we are doing everything we can to stop these rumors,” Rebecca added.

The incident has caused outrage in English football, showing the devastating power of fake news and AI-generated images, when a top player can become a victim in just a few hours on social media.
